About the role
The will lead the planning and execution of events that connect the Kickstarter community with creators and backers. This role focuses on building memorable experiences that showcase the platform's mission of supporting creative projects. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to design event strategies that drive engagement and growth across the Kickstarter ecosystem. You will be responsible for managing both virtual and in-person gatherings that reflect Kickstarter's unique brand identity and values.
Key facts
What you'll do
Plan and coordinate event logistics including venue selection, scheduling, and vendor coordination for Kickstarter campaigns.
Develop event marketing materials such as promotional content, email campaigns, and social media announcements.
Collaborate with the marketing team to align event strategies with broader brand messaging goals.
Manage registration and ticketing processes to ensure smooth participant onboarding for all Kickstarter events.
Create post-event reports analyzing attendance, engagement metrics, and attendee feedback to inform future planning.
Coordinate with creators and partners to feature their projects during live and virtual event experiences.
Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for event activities to ensure cost-effective execution across all initiatives.
Design interactive audience engagement activities including Q&A sessions, live demonstrations, and community networking opportunities.
Maintain relationships with external vendors, venues, and service providers to support recurring event programming.
Support the production of event content including recordings, highlights, and recap materials for ongoing promotion.
Troubleshoot on-site and virtual event issues to ensure a positive experience for all participants.
Partner with the communications team to develop press materials and media outreach for major Kickstarter events.
Identify opportunities to repurpose event content into blog posts, social media stories, and other marketing assets.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience in event marketing or community engagement within a creative or technology-driven organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling promotional narratives.
Proficiency in project management tools and methods for tracking multiple event timelines simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
Familiarity with crowdfunding platforms and an understanding of the creator economy ecosystem.
Experience coordinating both virtual and in-person events across multiple time zones and regions.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Self-motivated individual who thrives in collaborative settings and takes initiative on new ideas.
Experience with A/B testing and optimizing event promotion strategies to improve registration and attendance rates.
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adapt plans quickly when event circumstances change unexpectedly.
Nice to have
Previous experience working with Kickstarter or similar crowdfunding platforms and their community events.
Knowledge of video production tools and live streaming platforms for virtual event delivery.
Background in building and maintaining partnerships with creative communities and industry organizations.
Experience using analytics platforms to measure event performance and optimize future campaigns.
Familiarity with accessibility best practices for making events inclusive and welcoming to all attendees.
Skills & tools
Event management platforms such as Eventbrite, Bizzabo, or similar registration and ticketing software.
Email marketing tools including Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or equivalent campaign automation platforms.
Social media scheduling and analytics tools for promoting events across multiple channels.
Project management applications like Asana, Notion, or Trello for tracking event deliverables.
Video conferencing and live streaming software such as Zoom, StreamYard, or OBS.
Design tools including Canva, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite for event collateral creation.
Practical notes
This is a fully remote position with no requirement to relocate or commute to a physical office.
The role may involve occasional evening or weekend hours to align with global event schedules.
Candidates should have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace suitable for remote collaboration.
