About the role
Khan Academy is seeking a Training Lead for Chemistry to join its team in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of chemistry training programs that serve learners on the Khan Academy platform. The Training Lead partners with chemistry subject matter experts and educators to create high-quality instructional content and training materials. The position plays a central role in shaping how chemistry is taught and presented to students across different grade levels and learning backgrounds.

What you'll do
Lead the end-to-end development of chemistry training curriculum and instructional content for Khan Academy's diverse learner audience. Partner with chemistry subject matter experts to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons. Oversee the creation of practice problems, assessments, quizzes, and supplementary materials that reinforce core chemistry learning objectives. Guide and mentor a team of content creators, trainers, and educators to uphold the highest standards of instructional quality. Review and analyze learner performance data and feedback to identify areas where chemistry training materials can be improved. Coordinate with the Khan Academy product and engineering teams to ensure training content integrates smoothly into the platform. Establish and maintain consistent pedagogical frameworks, teaching standards, and quality benchmarks across all chemistry training resources. Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables for chemistry training content development in alignment with organizational goals. Conduct regular audits of existing chemistry lessons and update them to reflect the latest scientific understanding and accuracy. Support the onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of new team members joining the chemistry education group. Collaborate with the broader Khan Academy education team to align chemistry training initiatives with the platform's overall mission. Develop strategies for scaling chemistry training programs to reach a wider and more diverse set of learners.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience leading training programs, curriculum development, or instructional design within chemistry or science education environments. Deep knowledge of chemistry disciplines including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry. Strong ability to communicate scientific and technical information in a clear, accurate, and accessible manner for diverse audiences. Proven track record of managing and motivating teams of educators, trainers, or content developers in educational settings. Familiarity with online education platforms, digital learning tools, and technology-enhanced instruction for science subjects. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, education, or a closely related field is required for this position. Experience working with data and learner analytics to evaluate training effectiveness and inform content improvements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and planning skills to coordinate training initiatives across multiple teams and geographic locations.
Nice to have
Prior experience working at an education technology company, edtech startup, or nonprofit learning organization. Familiarity with Khan Academy's mission, values, and the existing chemistry content already available on the platform. Knowledge of Indian education standards, chemistry curriculum frameworks, or secondary school science teaching requirements. Experience using data analysis or visualization tools to measure learner engagement and track training program outcomes.
