About the role
Khan Academy is seeking a dedicated Project Lead to coordinate and drive key initiatives across the organization. What you'll do
- Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver initiatives on time and within defined scope.
- Define clear project goals, milestones, and measurable success criteria in partnership with stakeholders.
- Coordinate daily work between engineering, content, and design teams to align on shared priorities.
- Monitor ongoing project progress and proactively flag risks, dependencies, or blockers to leadership.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project plans, detailed timelines, and regular status reports.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings and ensure transparent communication across all participating groups.
- Gather detailed requirements from educators and translate them into actionable development tasks.
- Drive continuous improvement in project processes, documentation standards, and overall team workflows.
- Support the planned rollout of new learning tools and platform features for end users.
- Report project status and key metrics to senior leadership and external partners consistently.
- Identify and document project dependencies and coordinate smooth handoffs between different project phases.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet established quality standards and align with organizational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience is required for this role.
- Proven experience leading projects in an educational technology or nonprofit organization setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential for this position.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting competing deadlines consistently.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and standard tracking or scheduling tools.
- Experience working with distributed or remote team environments across different regions.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts and build consensus across different departments.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities quickly.
- Track record of delivering projects on time and within established budget constraints.
- Self-directed approach with strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through on commitments.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex, multi-stakeholder projects end to end.
