About the role

This role focuses on enabling data-driven decisions for Khan Academy India through robust data infrastructure and analysis. The hire will own the design and automation of data ingestion from diverse sources into BigQuery. They will be responsible for maintaining scalable database workflows and ensuring high standards of data accuracy and reliability. The position involves performing exploratory analysis to identify key trends and patterns that inform business strategy. They will build business reporting dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively. The role requires close partnership with stakeholders to define and track critical KPIs on a recurring basis. Data storytelling will be a core responsibility to translate complex findings for both technical and non-technical audiences. This position is a 12-month contract role, subject to extension further.

What you'll do

Automate the ingestion of data from multiple sources such as Google Sheets, APIs, and internal systems into BigQuery.

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows within BigQuery to support evolving business needs.

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across datasets through rigorous validation and monitoring processes.

Perform descriptive and diagnostic analyses to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that drive strategic decisions.

Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Streamlit, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar platforms.

Partner with stakeholders to define key business metrics and establish systems for daily, weekly, and monthly tracking.

Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research opportunities for improving educational content and products.

Implement and monitor data solutions to optimize performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency in the analytics environment.

Contribute to the end-to-end analytics lifecycle, including data modeling, exploration, visualization, and maintenance.

Requirements

Experience with Education or EdTech industry is strongly preferred.

A willingness to roll up your sleeves and help the team get work done as we are growing.

4+ years of hands-on experience in the data analytics field, ideally within an education setting.

Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques such as multiple regression and hypothesis testing for real-world applications.

Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as clustering and decision tree learning for practical implementations.

Strong foundations in SQL and the ability to manipulate data using R or Python.

Prior experience with the end-to-end analytics chain, including data modeling, BI tools, and BigQuery, is a nice to have.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to research and improve our content and products.

Awareness of best practices when collaborating in version control using Git.
