About the role
IXL Learning is hiring a Curriculum Sales Consultant to work in California and help schools improve student outcomes through technology. The role centers on building lasting relationships with educators, administrators, and district leaders who are looking for effective curriculum solutions. You will introduce IXL's learning platform to schools and demonstrate how its products support math, language arts, and other subjects across grade levels. This position requires regular travel within the assigned California territory to meet with school leaders, deliver product presentations, and close new client agreements.

What you'll do
Present IXL's comprehensive curriculum products to school districts and individual schools throughout California
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective education clients in your assigned territory
Conduct detailed product demonstrations that highlight IXL's math and language arts offerings for educators
Collaborate closely with the curriculum team to tailor presentations for each school's unique needs
Follow up consistently with leads and nurture relationships through each stage of the sales cycle
Gather meaningful feedback from educators to share valuable insights with the product development team
Attend regional education conferences and trade shows to generate new qualified leads for the team
Manage your own sales territory independently and set weekly activity and revenue targets for yourself
Coordinate with the marketing team to plan region-specific outreach campaigns and community engagement events
Close deals by aligning IXL's features with each district's specific academic goals and learning standards
Develop strategic account plans for key school districts to maximize long-term revenue potential
Partner with customer success teams to ensure smooth onboarding and retention of new school clients
Support existing school clients by identifying opportunities for product expansion and additional purchases
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in education, business, or a related academic field
At least two years of experience in sales, ideally within the education sector
Strong understanding of K-12 curriculum standards and learning objectives across grade levels
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a competitive environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting to diverse audiences effectively
Ability to travel frequently within California for in-person meetings with school leaders
Comfortable using CRM software to track leads, manage accounts, and forecast revenue accurately
Self-motivated with the discipline to manage a territory independently and consistently meet goals
Experience working with decision-makers in educational institutions such as principals and superintendents
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures within school districts and bureaucracies
Nice to have
Prior experience selling educational technology or learning management systems to K-12 schools
Familiarity with California state education standards and assessment frameworks is a strong plus
Existing relationships with school administrators or district decision-makers in the California region
Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish, to serve diverse school communities across the state
Experience presenting at professional development workshops or educator training sessions regularly
Background in curriculum design or instructional coaching within a school setting
Skills & tools
Proficiency with customer relationship management platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot for tracking
Experience with presentation software like PowerPoint or Google Slides for delivering product demos
Ability to use analytics dashboards to track sales performance metrics and pipeline health
Familiarity with IXL's product suite and the underlying learning standards and frameworks
Strong organizational skills for managing multiple school accounts and maintaining accurate records
Competence with email and calendar tools for scheduling client meetings and follow-ups efficiently
Comfort with proposal writing and contract documentation to formalize new client agreements
Practical notes
This is a full-time position based in California with regular regional travel required throughout the year
Candidates should expect to spend a significant portion of each week visiting schools in person across the territory
The role reports directly to the regional sales manager overseeing the California sales territory and team
IXL Learning provides comprehensive training on the product, sales process, and educational market during the onboarding period
Performance is evaluated based on new client acquisition, revenue targets, and customer satisfaction scores from school partners
