About the role
You will set the vision and define the strategic priorities for the IXL Professional Development Design team, driving the creation of all customer-facing professional development materials. In this capacity, you will own the oversight of the end-to-end professional development lifecycle, ensuring that the content and delivery methods meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. You will manage and directly mentor a team of Professional Development Designers, providing guidance, feedback, and career development to foster a high-performance environment. The role requires you to lead multiple concurrent projects simultaneously, navigating ambiguity and shifting business needs while maintaining a clear focus on outcomes. You will oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the onboarding experience for new Professional Learning Group employees. A critical part of this position involves partnering closely with other Professional Learning managers to gather feedback and insights that will enhance both our external professional development offerings and our internal training programs. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional partners in Product, Curriculum, and Marketing to identify needs, create solutions, and deliver ongoing product training to support our mission. Ultimately, you will ensure that the IXL Professional Learning team is equipped with the resources, training, and support necessary to succeed and drive impact for our learners.

What you'll do
- Define and articulate the strategic vision and priorities for the Professional Learning Design team to guide long-term initiatives.
- Create, review, and edit all professional development materials to ensure exceptional clarity, consistency, and instructional quality.
- Establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for writing, visual design, and formatting across all professional development deliverables.
- Manage, mentor, and provide developmental feedback to a team of Professional Development Designers to elevate performance and engagement.
- Lead and coordinate multiple concurrent projects, effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines without sacrificing excellence.
- Oversee the complete onboarding process for new Professional Learning employees, including the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of onboarding materials.
- Partner closely with other Professional Learning managers to collect feedback and derive insights that inform improvements to professional development and internal training initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Curriculum, and Marketing teams to identify needs, create solutions, and deliver comprehensive ongoing product training.
- Serve as the primary content expert for professional development processes, ensuring alignment with best practices in adult learning and instructional design.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing feedback and performance data to refine professional development offerings.
- Act as a key stakeholder in cross-departmental initiatives to ensure professional learning strategies support overall business objectives.
- Maintain organized documentation and version control for all professional development assets and processes.
- Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies clearly and proactively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the Professional Learning organization.
- Ensure all deliverables are completed on time and meet the high standards of quality expected by internal and external customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is required for this position.
- You must possess 5 or more years of experience in a role where creating and delivering professional development to k-12 educators was the primary focus.
- You must have 2 or more years of experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- You must demonstrate exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting core curriculum and assessment adoptions is strongly preferred for this role.
- You must be adaptable and comfortable managing ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You should be a creative thinker and proven problem-solver who can devise innovative solutions.
- You must be an excellent interpersonal communicator with a dynamic, enthusiastic, and upbeat personality.
- You must connect well with diverse stakeholders and maintain a positive, collaborative attitude at all times.
