About the role
Iq Eq is currently seeking a Client Assistant Accountant to join their established team based in London. This full-time position within the accounting department focuses on supporting the management and maintenance of client financial accounts on a daily basis. The Client Assistant Accountant will work alongside experienced professionals to ensure that all financial records are accurate, up to date, and prepared in accordance with relevant standards. The role serves as a vital link between the accounting team and the firm's diverse client base, contributing to the delivery of dependable and timely financial services. What you'll do
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts for assigned client portfolios spanning a range of industries and business sectors.
- Assist in reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure that all financial records are accurate and complete.
- Help process invoices, expenses, and payments in accordance with established company policies and agreed client terms.
- Collaborate with senior team members to review and verify financial data before it is submitted to clients for approval.
- Maintain organized filing systems for client financial documents, ensuring both physical records and digital files are kept current.
- Contribute to the preparation of year-end accounts and assist with gathering audit-related documentation when requested by external auditors.
- Communicate directly with clients to collect necessary financial information and to clarify any accounting-related questions or concerns.
- Monitor and track client account deadlines to ensure that all accounting deliverables are completed and submitted on time.
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other tax-related filings that are required for client accounts.
- Support the wider team in identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance the efficiency of client accounting workflows.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss client account status, upcoming deadlines, and any issues that require attention.
- Help maintain the accuracy of client billing records and assist with the resolution of any discrepancies that arise.
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices within a professional services or accountancy firm environment.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with both clients and internal team members.
- Proficiency in using accounting software applications and Microsoft Office tools to carry out daily accounting tasks.
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline from a recognized university or institution.
- Ability to work within structured processes and consistently follow established accounting procedures without supervision.
- A proactive and positive approach to learning and steadily developing technical accounting knowledge and skills over time.
- Experience working in a collaborative team-based environment where reliability, accountability, and mutual support are valued.
