What you'll do
- Assist senior surveyors in conducting building surveys, including condition assessments and defect analysis, to ensure properties meet safety and quality standards.
- Participate in the preparation of detailed reports and documentation, summarizing findings and recommendations for clients.
- Support project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, to ensure timely project delivery.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide exceptional customer service throughout the surveying process.
- Conduct site visits to gather data, assess property conditions, and identify potential issues that may require attention.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure integrated project delivery and compliance with regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, building regulations, and best practices to enhance your knowledge and contribute to the team's expertise.
- Assist in the preparation of planning applications and building regulations submissions to facilitate project approvals.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex building issues, leveraging your analytical skills and creativity.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to further your career in building surveying.
- Maintain accurate records and databases related to projects and client interactions to ensure effective communication and follow-up.

Requirements
- A degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex building issues critically.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with clients and team members.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced professionals in the field.
- Familiarity with building regulations, health and safety standards, and construction practices is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools for documentation and reporting.
- A valid UK driving license is preferred, as site visits may be required.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various situations.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Previous internship or work experience in building surveying or a related field.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or other design software to assist in project documentation.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in a relevant professional body, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Understanding of sustainability practices and energy efficiency in building design.
