Key facts
What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive building surveys, including condition assessments, defect analysis, and dilapidation reports for a diverse range of properties.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation that clearly communicate findings, recommendations, and action plans to clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure that projects meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert advice on building regulations, planning policies, and construction methodologies to clients, ensuring compliance and best practices are followed.
- Manage and oversee the delivery of projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Liaise with clients to understand their needs and expectations, maintaining strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct risk assessments and feasibility studies to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, legislation changes, and best practices to provide informed advice and maintain a competitive edge.
- Mentor and guide junior surveyors and support their professional development through training and knowledge sharing.
- Assist in business development activities, including preparing proposals and presentations to attract new clients and projects.
- Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure quality standards are upheld.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and methodologies to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction.
Requirements
- A degree in Building Surveying or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building surveying.
- Professional membership with a recognized body, such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in conducting building surveys, preparing reports, and managing projects effectively.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, planning policies, and construction practices within the UK.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Proficiency in using surveying software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid UK driving license is preferred, as site visits may be required.

- Familiarity with sustainability practices and green building standards.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
- Previous experience in client-facing roles, with a track record of building strong client relationships.
