What you'll do

Lead the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
Conduct detailed electrical load calculations and system analyses to optimize performance and efficiency.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and design drawings, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, providing technical support to contractors and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the team.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices, integrating new knowledge into project work.
Participate in client meetings and presentations, effectively communicating technical concepts and project progress to stakeholders.
Manage project budgets and resources, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints.
Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure quality control and compliance with safety standards.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies within the organization.
Engage in business development activities, identifying opportunities for new projects and building relationships with potential clients.

Requirements

A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering.
Proven experience in managing complex electrical projects from conception through to completion.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations, particularly in the UK context.
Proficiency in using electrical design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar applications.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff, with a focus on knowledge sharing and skill enhancement.
A proactive approach to project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient technologies is highly desirable.

Nice to have

Chartered Engineer status or working towards it would be an advantage.
Experience in sectors such as commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
Knowledge of renewable energy systems and their integration into electrical designs.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
Previous experience in client-facing roles, with a track record of building strong client relationships.
