Key facts
What you'll do
- Conduct thorough building surveys, including condition assessments, defect analysis, and feasibility studies to provide clients with comprehensive reports and recommendations.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure that projects meet regulatory standards and client expectations.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring that all financial aspects are accounted for and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide expert advice on property acquisitions, disposals, and lease negotiations, helping clients make informed decisions.
- Oversee and manage the delivery of building projects from inception to completion, ensuring that timelines and quality standards are met.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues that may arise during the project.
- Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with building regulations and planning permissions.
- Mentor and guide junior surveyors and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Participate in business development activities, including networking events and client presentations, to promote Bamboohr's services and expand our client base.
- Stay updated on industry trends, legislation changes, and best practices to ensure that our services remain competitive and relevant.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for clients, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all communications.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative surveying techniques and methodologies to enhance service delivery.
Requirements
- A degree in Building Surveying or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building surveying.
- Chartered status with a recognized professional body such as RICS is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, planning policies, and construction practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Proven experience in project management, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
- Proficiency in using surveying software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- A proactive approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
Nice to have
- Experience in specific sectors such as residential, commercial, or industrial surveying.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and energy efficiency measures in building design and construction.
- Previous experience in a client-facing role, with a strong focus on customer service and relationship management.
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and its application in surveying practices.
- Additional qualifications or certifications related to building surveying or project management.
