Senior Workday HRIS Specialist | People Technology
This role centers on ownership of the Workday ecosystem, driving configuration, deployment, and optimization across key modules. You will serve as the primary subject matter expert for the HR Technology organization, responsible for researching and implementing technical solutions. Success in this position means immediate contributions to employee experience and organizational productivity through refined processes, tools, and support. You will gain visibility across the global HR technology landscape while stabilizing core system operations.
You will own the configuration and deployment of the Workday environment, leading enhancements for Time Tracking and Absence modules. This position requires hands-on expertise in system administration to ensure optimal performance and stability. You will collaborate closely with HR Technology peers, Field HR, Shared Services, and Payroll teams. The role also involves partnering with third-party technical consultants and IT to deliver integrations and custom solutions. A core responsibility involves troubleshooting complex issues and defects while maintaining exceptional service levels. You will actively participate in the design, planning, and support of business process configurations, security models, and administrative controls. Continuous learning remains central as you deepen knowledge of Workday capabilities and engage with broader product trends and community insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and enhance Workday modules including Time Tracking and Absence, with mandatory hands-on implementation experience.
- Serve as system administrator for core modules such as US Payroll, Benefits, and related interdependencies.
- Guide cross-functional teams including HR Technology, Field HR, and Shared Services to ensure optimal system utilization.
- Configure business processes, security architecture, data management, and reporting frameworks.
- Partner with external technical consultants and IT teams to deliver integrations, custom reports, and EIBs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Support the implementation and optimization of bi-annual Workday release cycles.
- Maintain deep knowledge of system capabilities and contribute to strategic system improvements.
- Champion process documentation, change management, and administrative best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with preference for Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields.
- 4 or more years of configuration and administration experience with advanced subject matter expertise in Workday Time Tracking and Absence.
- Demonstrated experience with US Payroll, GL regulations, and compliance rules affecting financial reporting.
- Deep understanding of time calculations, tags, shift differentials, attendance points, eligibility rules, and downstream payroll impacts.
- Hands-on knowledge supporting Workday configuration, including Business Processes, notifications, condition rules, custom reports, EIBs, Security, and integrations.
- Experience rolling out bi-annual Workday releases through full implementation and support life cycles.
- Familiarity with agile development frameworks such as Jira, Scrum, and Kanban.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Organizational and planning skills to perform reliably under demanding deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to resolve complex issues.
