Staff Software Engineer, Supply Chain Management Technology
Job description
Staff Software Engineer, Supply Chain Management Technology
About the role: What's included
In this Staff Engineer role within Supply Chain Management, you will define, secure, and implement technical solutions for business problems. You will own end-to-end solutions as systems scale to handle a significant increase in volume, rising from 1.2 million to over 2.4 million produced boxes per week following recent software product consolidation. You will drive faster development, decision-making, and problem-solving while working with neighboring teams to ensure clearer architecture and defined boundaries that support autonomy. You will communicate directly with business stakeholders and multiple tech teams that support local markets. This position reports to the Director of Engineering in the Production tribe and does not include people management responsibilities.
What you'll do: The core responsibilities
You will assume technical leadership within a tribe and own the most challenging technology decisions, covering architecture, design, development, deployment, and operational excellence. You will support neighboring teams in architectural design and help maintain architectural integrity across the scope of the tribe and beyond. You will spend a significant portion of your time orchestrating code generation-guiding AI coding agents, rigorously reviewing their implementations, and refining logic based on organizational needs. You will solve software problems where visible risks, roadblocks, and constraints exist, navigating an environment that is approximately 70% greenfield development and 30% legacy systems. In this context, you will manage dependencies, data quality, compliance, and architectural transformations. You will mentor more junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
What you'll bring: Required capabilities
You ideally hold 10+ years of engineering experience, including more than 2 years at staff or principal level with technical leadership responsibilities. You demonstrate strong capability in working with diverse stakeholders and experience addressing physical world problems through software solutions. You possess full-stack and agentic engineering skills, with deep problem-solving abilities and proficiency in multiple languages such as C#, Python, Golang, and modern frontend technologies. You bring hands-on experience leveraging AI coding agents, including Cursor, Copilot, and Claude Code, in production environments. This moves beyond basic prompting to include context engineering, workflow decomposition, and the implementation of strict guardrails for reliable agent outputs. Experience with data engineering fundamentals is highly desirable, including expertise in data modeling, governance, quality assurance, and proficiency in data processing and storage systems. You are skilled in designing and implementing modular systems, including proficiency in both synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns. You are a team player with a passion for helping others grow through peer-to-peer mentoring, knowledge-sharing sessions, and advocating for best engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DDD, and established design patterns. You maintain an agile mindset and can effectively advocate for cross-functional collaboration.
Interaction is central to this position. You will work closely with front-end developers, designers, product managers, and teams around the world as part of day-to-day responsibilities. You will act as an ambassador by coaching team members and stakeholders while applying engineering skills across a wide range of platforms and environments.
What we offer: The benefits
You will receive a competitive salary package, which includes a HelloFresh-subsidized pension scheme. You will enjoy savings on your weekly HelloFresh box. Support for mental wellbeing is provided through access to platforms such as Headspace and Spill. You can stay active with a discounted Urban Sports Club membership and other wellbeing resources. The role offers a flexible hybrid work model. You will also have access to sabbatical leave options in addition to standard time off.
