About the role
Bamboohr is seeking a Senior Vice President and Director of Tax to lead the company's global tax strategy and compliance functions across its operations. This senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, reporting, and governance within the organization. The role reports directly to the executive leadership team and plays a critical part in shaping the company's financial and regulatory direction on a worldwide scale. The Director of Tax will manage a dedicated team of tax professionals and work closely with finance, legal, and operations stakeholders to ensure full regulatory alignment.

What you'll do
Lead the development and execution of the company's global tax strategy and long-term tax planning initiatives across all business units.
Oversee federal, state, and international tax compliance filings and ensure strict adherence to all applicable regulations and reporting deadlines.
Manage the preparation and review of tax provisions, estimates, and financial reporting related to income taxes for multiple entities.
Direct the tax audit process and serve as the primary point of contact with external tax authorities and professional advisors.
Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and capital structure decisions from a tax perspective.
Advise senior leadership on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other significant corporate transactions and restructuring events.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulatory guidance across Bermuda and the United States to proactively identify risks and opportunities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, external counsel, and professional service firms operating in multiple jurisdictions.
Mentor and develop the tax team members by setting performance goals and fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Drive tax technology and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce compliance risk across the organization's global operations.
Requirements
A minimum of fifteen years of progressive tax experience in a corporate or professional services environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
Deep and demonstrated knowledge of US federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements as they apply to corporate entities.
Familiarity with the Bermuda tax regime and international tax structures is essential for effectively managing cross-border tax obligations.
Proven experience managing and leading a team of tax professionals in a senior capacity within a complex organizational structure.
Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, including ASC 740 and IFRS tax provisions, and their practical application in a corporate setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex tax matters clearly to executive-level audiences and board members.
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; an advanced degree or additional professional certification is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Nice to have
Experience with tax planning related to life sciences or healthcare industry operations and business models is highly valued.
Prior experience working in Bermuda or with companies that have significant operations and entities established in Bermuda.
Knowledge of transfer pricing documentation and international tax treaty applications across multiple cross-border jurisdictions and structures.
Experience with tax technology platforms and automation tools for compliance, reporting, and workflow management in a corporate tax department.
Background in supporting corporate restructuring or financing transactions from a tax planning and compliance perspective in a professional services or corporate setting.
Skills & tools
Proficiency in US and international tax compliance software and enterprise resource planning systems used in corporate tax departments.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and advanced financial modeling techniques for tax analysis and scenario planning.
Hands-on experience with tax provision software and corporate tax reporting platforms to streamline compliance and reporting processes.
Familiarity with document management and workflow automation tools commonly used in modern tax departments and finance organizations.
Ability to interpret and apply complex tax statutes, regulations, and guidance documents accurately in a practical business context.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with a consistent track record of attention to detail and thorough follow-through.
