What you'll do
- Lead and manage the casualty claims department, ensuring all claims are processed efficiently and in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve claims handling processes, aiming to reduce cycle times and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Oversee a team of claims professionals, providing mentorship, training, and performance management to foster a high-performing culture.
- Collaborate with underwriting, risk management, and legal teams to assess claims and determine appropriate resolutions.
- Analyze claims data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as company guidelines, to mitigate risks associated with claims handling.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated claims issues, providing expert guidance and support to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management on claims performance, including key metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the claims process.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging risks, and best practices in claims management to maintain a competitive edge.
- Participate in the development of training programs and resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of the claims team.
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience, ensuring that clients receive timely and accurate information regarding their claims.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional designation (e.g., CPCU) is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in claims management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of casualty claims processes, regulations, and best practices.
- Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to handle complex claims issues with diplomacy and professionalism.
