Position Overview

GTI is seeking an Engineering Manager to direct and synchronize engineering activities across a portfolio of concurrent programs within our modular infrastructure division. This leadership role is accountable for the complete lifecycle of engineering execution, from intake and design validation through to production readiness and final delivery. The position holder will provide portfolio-level oversight, ensuring that engineering outputs remain consistent with project scope, schedule commitments, and defined quality standards. Success in this role requires close collaboration with Project Management and Design Leads to verify that technical execution aligns with contractual obligations. The Engineering Manager will also own the aggregation and reporting of engineering health, risk exposure, and capacity metrics to senior Directors. also, this role is responsible for the development, performance management, and career growth of the engineering team. It is important to note that this position does not act as the sole technical authority for a specific discipline; project-level technical ownership resides with designated Design Leads. Engineering standards are established in concert with Discipline Leadership. The Engineering Manager ensures alignment of resources, maintains execution quality, and safeguards delivery performance across the entire portfolio. The role may require travel, estimated at up to 10 percent of total time, for program visits.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager will orchestrate the intake process for new program requests, rigorously confirming available capacity and the validity of technical assumptions before commitment. A core function involves designing and implementing build strategies that seamlessly integrate mechanical and electrical workflows into a single, efficient process. This leader will conduct systematic reviews of cross-project risks, proactively adjusting plans and resource allocation to maintain delivery schedules. The manager will oversee the production of modular enclosures and skids, ensuring every unit meets precise customer specifications and relevant regulatory standards. Effective partnership with external suppliers and coordination with internal teams will be essential to resolve issues promptly and prevent escalation. The role will guide engineers through structured performance conversations and identify clear career growth opportunities. Maintaining comprehensive documentation that demonstrates how each project adheres to company quality processes is a required duty. The Engineering Manager will also adapt workflows and operating procedures, enabling the team to respond rapidly when priorities change midstream.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of hands-on experience managing engineering activities in a manufacturing or production environment. Familiarity with the process of translating custom designs into physical hardware within fixed timelines is mandatory. A strong understanding of how to coordinate activities across mechanical and electrical domains within a single operational environment is required. The ability to travel occasionally, up to a maximum of 10 percent of the time for program visits, is necessary for success in this position.

Location and Engagement

This position is based in Buffalo, New York. The engagement is full-time, and the compensation package is competitive, with a target range of $130,000 to $160,000 USD annually.
