What you'll do

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of work areas to ensure a safe and efficient environment for all personnel.
• Perform general labor tasks including digging, lifting, and transporting materials as required by the project needs.
• Operate basic hand tools and power tools under the supervision of skilled tradespeople.
• Participate in site clean-up activities to maintain a tidy and organized work environment.
• Support the installation and dismantling of temporary structures and facilities as directed.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively, fostering a cooperative work atmosphere.
• Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately to ensure prompt resolution.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of materials and supplies, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
• Participate in training sessions and safety meetings to enhance personal knowledge and skills relevant to the role.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a labor-intensive role, preferably within the mining or construction industry.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and willingness to adhere to all safety regulations on-site.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools is an advantage.
• Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently when required.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed by project demands.
• Valid work authorization to operate in Guyana; assistance with visa applications will be provided for qualified candidates.

Nice to have

• Certification in First Aid or CPR is a plus.
• Experience working in remote locations or on mining sites is advantageous.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainable practices in mining operations.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in using basic hand tools, such as shovels, picks, and hammers.
• Understanding of power tools, including drills and saws, is beneficial.
• Strong physical stamina and endurance to handle the demands of the job.
• Basic numeracy skills for measuring and estimating materials as needed.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
