Bamboohr is seeking a skilled Pipe Fitter for the Oko Gold Project located in Georgetown, Guyana. This position is essential for ensuring the integrity and functionality of piping systems within the project. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pipe fitting, with experience in the mining or industrial sectors. This role is a fixed-term engagement, contributing to the successful development of one of the most promising gold projects in the region.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Install, maintain, and repair various piping systems, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand the layout and specifications of piping systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and other tradespeople to design and implement effective piping solutions that meet project requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on piping systems to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate.
• Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to cut, bend, and assemble pipes, ensuring precision and quality in all work performed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve piping system malfunctions, implementing corrective actions to restore functionality.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered during installation or maintenance.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the workplace.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on industry best practices.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior pipe fitters and apprentices, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Ensure that all work is completed on schedule and within budget, contributing to the overall success of the Oko Gold Project.
• Communicate effectively with project managers and supervisors regarding project progress and any challenges faced in the field.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Pipe Fitter, ideally within the mining or industrial sectors, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and installation techniques.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors.
• Valid certification or training in pipe fitting or a related field is preferred.
• Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and work in various environmental conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as required by project demands.

Nice to have

• Experience with specialized piping materials such as stainless steel or plastic piping systems.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and certifications in welding processes.
• Previous experience working in remote locations or on large-scale mining projects.
• Familiarity with CAD software or other design tools used in piping layout and design.
• Additional certifications in safety training, such as First Aid or CPR.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools specific to pipe fitting, including pipe wrenches, cutters, and benders.
• Familiarity with safety equipment and personal protective gear required in a mining environment.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem-solving in piping systems.
• Ability to work with various materials, including metals and plastics, and understand their properties and applications.
• Competence in using measurement tools and techniques to ensure accurate installations.
