Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard personnel, equipment, and facilities at the OKO Gold Project.
• Conduct regular inspections of the site to identify potential security risks and implement corrective measures as necessary.
• Monitor access control systems and maintain visitor logs to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed on site.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services to coordinate responses to incidents or emergencies.
• Train and supervise security staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle various security challenges.
• Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, investigations, and any breaches of protocol for management review.
• Implement surveillance measures, including the use of cameras and other monitoring technologies, to enhance site security.
• Conduct safety drills and training sessions for all personnel to promote awareness of security protocols and emergency procedures.
• Assist in the development of a comprehensive emergency response plan tailored to the specific needs of the mining operation.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and legal requirements related to security and safety in mining operations.
• Foster a culture of safety and security among all employees, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities or concerns.
• Liaise with the project management team to ensure that security considerations are integrated into all operational plans.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a security role, preferably within the mining or construction industry, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong understanding of security protocols, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with surveillance systems, access control technologies, and incident reporting software.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Valid security certification or training, such as a security guard license or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in a remote or isolated work environment, particularly in the mining sector.
• Knowledge of local laws and regulations related to security and safety in Guyana.
• First aid and CPR certification, with the ability to respond to medical emergencies.
• Multilingual skills, particularly in English and Spanish, to facilitate communication with a diverse workforce.
