Mobile Engineer - Frontend

About the role

You will be responsible for owning the mobile SDK surface for GlomoPay across Flutter and React Native, ensuring that merchant integrations remain smooth and reliable. You will work hand in hand with senior mobile engineers to transition our mobile capabilities in-house, delivering native Android and iOS SDKs that power payments, KYC, and global merchant experiences. This role requires you to design and implement first-class camera-based document capture, liveness detection, secure file handling, on-device identity, and biometric flows with a strong focus on security and performance. You will define and maintain consumer-facing SDK APIs that are intuitive, stable, and forgiving for integrators, while managing versioning, releases, and changelogs across distribution channels. You will build and sustain the release engineering and testing infrastructure that keeps our mobile SDKs reproducible, observable, and crash-free. You will support merchants during integration and go-live, acting as the technical expert when issues arise in their environments. You will collaborate closely with product and security teams to ensure compliance, data protection, and regulatory requirements are met across all mobile touchpoints.

What you'll do

• Own and evolve the Flutter and React Native SDKs, including versioning, semantic releases, changelog discipline, and distribution via pub.dev, npm, Maven Central, CocoaPods, and SPM.
• Drive the in-house development of native Android and iOS SDKs, writing stable Kotlin and Swift interfaces that integrate cleanly with the cross-platform layers.
• Design and ship consumer-facing SDK APIs that merchant engineers find delightful to use, with sensible defaults, clear error messages, graceful fallbacks, and transparent breaking-change policies.
• Implement camera-based document capture and liveness workflows for KYC, handling real-world device variability, image quality issues, and edge cases across Android and iOS.
• Build secure file handling systems for picking, storing, and uploading sensitive documents, with encryption at rest and strict temp-file hygiene.
• Deliver robust on-device identity capabilities, including biometric authentication, secure token storage in Keychain and Keystore, and device attestation flows.
• Maintain stable native bridges and WebView interop layers, ensuring hybrid integrations stay correct as native capabilities expand.
• Create and maintain reproducible, automated release pipelines that eliminate phantom builds, prevent direct-to-main merges, and guarantee build integrity.
• Establish real-device E2E test infrastructure that covers a wide matrix of Android and iOS devices, OS versions, and OEM configurations.
• Implement crash-free rate and error observability dashboards per SDK and per merchant app, enabling fast detection and remediation.
• Debug integration issues inside third-party apps with limited visibility, using logs, diagnostics, and remote data to resolve problems quickly.
• Write integration documentation and sample apps that answer common questions, reduce onboarding friction, and prevent repeated support queries.
• Partner directly with merchant engineering teams during integration and go-live, providing clear guidance and timely technical support.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience building and shipping production mobile applications or SDKs that are used by real users.
• A track record of published apps on the Play Store or App Store, or SDKs consumed by external teams, excluding side projects or course work.
• At least 2 years of demonstrated stability in a professional role, with consistent delivery and responsible ownership.
• Deep expertise in at least one native platform, either Android with Kotlin or iOS with Swift, including knowledge of lifecycle management, permissions, background behavior, memory usage, and the true reasons builds break.
• Working competence in at least one cross-platform stack, such as Flutter with Dart or React Native with TypeScript.
• Proven ability to cross native bridges in both directions, using platform channels, native modules, and WebView messaging patterns.
• Solid understanding of mobile release engineering, including code signing, provisioning profiles, Gradle and Xcode build configuration, CI pipelines for mobile, and staged rollout strategies.
• Experience debugging on physical devices rather than only simulators, accounting for device fragmentation, OS version differences, and OEM-specific quirks.
• Strong testing instincts, with experience writing unit tests, widget or UI tests, and E2E tests on device, and knowing when each type adds real value.
• Security-minded development practices, especially around payments and KYC, where card data, PII, and identity documents pass through your code.
• Awareness of logging, storage, screenshots, clipboard handling, and crash reporting as security surfaces that must be managed proactively.
• Merchant empathy, with the mindset that your SDK lives inside someone else's app and their bugs become your bugs.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to raise risks early and produce pull requests that are easy for reviewers to understand and evaluate.

Nice to have

• Existing SDK or library that you have published for external consumption.
• Prior experience in fintech, payments, KYC, or compliance-driven products.
• Hands-on experience migrating a hybrid or WebView-based product toward a native architecture.
• Familiarity with mobile observability tools such as Sentry and Crashlytics, and using crash-free rate as an operational metric.
• Exposure to accessibility features and localization on mobile platforms.

Practical notes

This role operates full time from our Bengaluru headquarters. No remote or hybrid arrangements are currently available. There are no paid travel requirements associated with this position, and no international visa sponsorship is provided. The scope of work is expected to grow over time, with additional responsibilities assigned as you demonstrate ownership and delivery capability.
