About the role
This position involves collaborating closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to design tailored payment solutions that meet merchant needs. The role encompasses guiding the implementation process, ensuring seamless integration of APIs, SDKs, and webhooks, and providing ongoing technical support to a portfolio of customers. The Solution Engineer will act as a technical advisor, helping merchants optimize their payment flows, troubleshoot issues, and adopt best practices to improve transaction success rates and reliability. The role requires a mix of technical expertise, customer engagement, and problem-solving skills to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable payment experiences. It is a hands-on role that combines pre-sales activities, technical leadership during integration, and post-go-live support to ensure long-term success and satisfaction for merchants.

What you'll do
- Conduct discovery sessions with merchants to understand their specific payment requirements and business KPIs.
- Map merchant needs to Glomopay's capabilities, designing reference architectures that align with their technical and operational goals.
- Deliver live demonstrations and proof-of-concept implementations to showcase how Glomopay's solutions can meet merchant objectives.
- Provide detailed guidance on integrating APIs, SDKs, and webhooks, including reviewing payloads, data flows, and security considerations.
- Lead sandbox testing efforts, ensuring merchants can validate their integrations before going live.
- Manage the certification process for integrations, coordinating with merchants and internal teams to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Oversee the transition from sandbox to production, supporting merchants during cutover and initial transaction periods.
- Act as the primary technical contact after deployment, monitoring payment health, transaction success rates, and system reliability.
- Conduct regular cadence reviews with merchants to discuss performance metrics, address issues, and recommend improvements.
- Monitor incidents related to payment flows, including 3DS, authentication, idempotency, and webhook failures; analyze logs and traces to identify root causes.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, coordinating fixes and updates.
- Build and maintain comprehensive merchant-facing documentation, including API references, integration guides, sample applications, and architecture diagrams.
- Develop internal resources such as playbooks, best practices, and troubleshooting guides to streamline delivery and support.
- Create and update Postman collections, sample apps, and architecture guides to facilitate repeatable and scalable integrations.
- Gather feedback from merchants and field teams to identify recurring issues and suggest product enhancements.
- Influence the product roadmap by providing insights based on field experiences and merchant needs.
- Support merchant enablement initiatives by conducting training sessions, webinars, and workshops.
- Manage a portfolio of merchant accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and technical success.
- Advocate for merchant needs within the company, helping shape product features and support processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, payment standards, and security protocols to ensure solutions remain compliant and competitive.
- Contribute to a high-velocity environment where rapid iteration and continuous improvement are valued.
- Work on-site at the Bengaluru HQ, engaging directly with teams and merchants to deliver effective solutions.
- Maintain a focus on delivering measurable outcomes that enhance the merchant experience and system reliability.
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, and SDKs; familiarity with JSON, HTTP protocols, and authentication schemes such as OAuth, API keys, and HMAC.
- Ability to design scalable and secure solution architectures, clearly communicating trade-offs and technical considerations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Practical knowledge of payment processing flows, including checkout, authorization, capture, refunds, 3DS/SCA, tokenization, retries, idempotency, and reconciliation webhooks.
- Programming proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, or Go.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git and observability tools like logs, metrics, and tracing.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships across Sales, Product, and Engineering teams.
- Ability to own and manage a portfolio of merchant accounts, ensuring technical success and satisfaction.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Between 2 and 4 years of experience in solutions engineering, integration engineering, technical account management, or developer support within fintech or payments.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment that values rapid iteration and customer-centric solutions.
- Willingness to work on-site at the Bengaluru HQ and engage directly with merchants and internal teams.
Nice to have
- Previous experience working at a PSP, payment gateway, or fintech company.
- Knowledge of scheme/bank certifications, PCI standards, and security compliance requirements.
- Background in solutions engineering, technical account management, or customer success engineering for API-first products.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices related to payments and financial services.
- Exposure to enterprise-grade payment systems and integration challenges.
- Ability to adapt quickly to evolving product features and industry regulations.
