Senior Product Designer, Studio Team
Job description
About the role
This role is for a founding designer who will act as the primary research lead for evaluating high-potential opportunities within the GameChanger Studio. You will own the process of transforming ambiguous concepts into concrete, testable hypotheses that inform critical business decisions. A core part of your responsibility is defining the specific evidence required for validation and determining the data that would justify a pivot or a stop. You will execute the entire validation sprint lifecycle, from identifying riskiest assumptions to selecting the most effective research methods to gather proof. Your work will directly influence whether the company commits to new bets or consciously releases resources from unpromising ideas. This position requires you to build and run experiments such as surveys, interviews, and landing page tests to measure real market interest. Ultimately, you will synthesize your findings into clear, evidence-backed go or no-go recommendations that include the decision not to proceed.
Key facts
What you'll do
Conduct discovery sessions to frame ambiguous opportunities and identify the core questions that require validation.
Define the validation criteria for new concepts by establishing the specific evidence that would indicate product-market fit or failure.
Execute research methods such as customer interviews, diary studies, and surveys to gather qualitative and quantitative insights.
Run observational research through onsite ethnography to understand user behavior in real-world sports environments.
Build prototypes at varying levels of fidelity, from paper sketches to interactive digital flows, to test concepts quickly and cheaply.
Utilize AI-assisted tools throughout the workflow to accelerate synthesis and expand the team's capacity to evaluate ideas.
Create landing pages and run demand tests to measure market interest and validate hypotheses before significant investment.
Partner with the product manager to translate strategic ideas into experiments that de-risk potential business directions.
Analyze data from analytics and user feedback to synthesize findings and formulate actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Establish the Studio's validation playbook by defining the cadence of experiments and the thresholds for sufficient evidence.
Collaborate with User Research, Data & Analytics, Strategy, Product, and Engineering teams to align on goals and findings.
Present clear go or no-go decisions to leadership, ensuring recommendations are grounded in research evidence and user needs.
Independently manage the research lifecycle, from recruitment of participants to the synthesis of insights and final decision documentation.
Engage with real participants, including coaches, players, and families, across diverse sports and new international markets to gather broad perspectives.
Champion the principle of stopping unpromising ideas by providing data-driven reasons not to proceed.
Drive the creation of prototypes, from low-fidelity sketches to functional simulations, to explore user interactions and refine concepts.
Maintain a portfolio of experiments and outcomes that demonstrate the impact of research on strategic product decisions.
Requirements
You bring a minimum of five years of product design experience in relevant fields.
Your background must include work in 0-to-1 environments, such as early-stage startups or innovation teams.
You possess a strategic mindset that values business considerations equally with user needs and technical feasibility.
You operate with an entrepreneurial spirit and comfort with autonomy, thriving in ambiguous situations without prescribed methods.
You proactively engage collaborators to solve problems rather than waiting for formal structures or instructions.
You are a highly capable researcher who can independently plan recruitment, conduct interviews, and synthesize complex data.
Your versatility as a prototyper is significant, allowing you to match the method to the question at hand.
You fluidly move between static sketches, interactive digital prototypes, and functional simulations to validate concepts.
