AI UX Product Designer

About the role

You translate ambiguous product ideas into production-grade UI that feels both beautiful and engineered for conversion. You own the complete lifecycle of a feature from initial merchant insight to deployed component in our Storybook system. You partner directly with product leadership to turn rough wireframes into pixel-perfect, data-validated experiences. You act as the merchant's advocate inside the product team, challenging assumptions with qualitative and quantitative evidence. You debug design through code and debug code through design, ensuring the interface aligns with both user needs and business goals. You communicate with clarity to engineers, product managers, and merchants, making your tradeoffs explicit and actionable. You treat every pixel as a hypothesis and every release as an experiment that either earns or costs our merchants money.

What you'll do

Conduct discovery sessions with top merchants to surface workflow gaps and unmet operational needs.

Translate product requirements and rough wireframes into high-fidelity, accessible UI that works across desktop and mobile.

Build production-ready front-end components using our component library and ship them through our Storybook workflow.

Write and run Playwright test suites to validate core user journeys and prevent regressions in production.

Partner with product managers to define and track conversion, activation, and time-to-value metrics for each release.

Run session replay analysis and read support tickets to identify friction points and drive iterative improvements.

Collaborate with our AI engineering team to ensure agent-driven features are usable, reliable, and trustworthy for merchants.

Prioritize work based on merchant impact, technical feasibility, and operational constraints in a fast-paced environment.

Represent the voice of the merchant in design reviews, code reviews, and roadmap discussions.

Ship UI updates in days by moving fast in our trunk-based development environment with minimal ceremony.

Instrument UI flows for analytics so product decisions are grounded in behavioral data.

Maintain a strong visual and interaction design vocabulary while staying pragmatic about tradeoffs in a revenue-critical context.

Mentor junior designers and engineers by demonstrating how design decisions integrate with front-end implementation.

Continuously benchmark our experience against direct response competitors and look for whitespace opportunities.

Own the QA of your features from local development through staging and into production monitoring.

Requirements

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

You have 5+ years of hands-on UI design experience, with a strong portfolio showing production interfaces you helped ship.

You have 3+ years of front-end coding experience with proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

You are deeply familiar with component-based UI development using React and modern tooling like Storybook.

You have shipped products that improved conversion, activation, or other core business metrics.

You can comfortably switch between strategic thinking and detailed implementation without losing context.

You are comfortable working autonomously on a distributed team with asynchronous communication as the default.

You have experience reading and questioning analytics dashboards to inform design decisions.

You are based in the United States and able to work full-time during U.S. business hours.

Nice to have

Experience with AI tooling such as Claude Code, Claude Design, or similar agent-assisted workflows.

A background in direct response, ecommerce, or high-conversion B2C products.

Familiarity with payment flows, checkout optimization, and operational dashboards for commerce.

Practical notes

This is a full-time U.S.-based role. We operate asynchronously, so reliable communication and documented decisions are essential. Travel is not required, and we do not sponsor visas. We expect to ship production UI within your first week and move at a pace measured in days, not quarters.
