About the role
Form Labs is hiring an AR Specialist to join their growing team in Budapest, Hungary. This role centers on developing augmented reality experiences that transform how users interact with Form Labs 3D printing hardware and software platforms. The AR Specialist will partner closely with product managers and engineering teams to design and ship immersive visualization tools for both internal and customer-facing workflows. The position requires translating complex 3D printing concepts into intuitive augmented reality interfaces that help customers plan, preview, and understand their print jobs with greater confidence and clarity.
Key facts
What you'll do
1. Design and build augmented reality features that enhance Form Labs 3D printers and the software ecosystem around them.
2. Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate AR capabilities directly into Form Labs device workflows and user routines.
3. Develop interactive 3D visualization tools that allow users to preview print configurations and material choices before starting a job.
- Create guided AR overlays that walk customers through printer setup, calibration, and routine maintenance procedures step by step.
5. Work alongside the UX design team to ensure all AR interfaces remain intuitive, accessible, and easy to navigate.
6. Optimize AR rendering performance across mobile and tablet devices that are commonly used in production and lab environments.
7. Write clean, well-structured code for AR modules using industry-standard frameworks and established development best practices.
8. Conduct user testing sessions with real customers to gather actionable feedback and iterate on AR feature designs.
9. Document technical specifications and implementation details for every AR component, feature, and integration point across the product line.
10. Support the customer success team by diagnosing AR-related issues and providing clear technical guidance and resolution paths.
11. Contribute to the long-term product roadmap by proposing new AR features and evaluating emerging spatial computing technologies.
12. Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to produce compelling AR demonstrations for product launches and trade show events.
Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is required.
2. Demonstrated experience building augmented reality applications using ARKit, ARCore, or Unity AR Foundation frameworks.
3. Strong programming proficiency in C# or C++ with a portfolio of completed projects to reference.
4. Solid understanding of 3D modeling concepts, coordinate systems, spatial mapping, and fundamental spatial computing principles.
5. Hands-on experience with mobile platform development, specifically targeting iOS and Android AR application workflows.
6. Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and additive manufacturing processes provides a meaningful advantage in this role.
7. Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams that span both hardware and software engineering disciplines.
8. Strong problem-solving aptitude combined with a self-directed approach to learning unfamiliar technologies and frameworks quickly.
9. Comfort working both independently and within collaborative sprint-based development cycles that emphasize iterative improvement.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for producing technical documentation and coordinating with distributed teams.
