About the role
Flutterwavego is currently seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Internal Tools team and contribute to the platforms that power the company's day-to-day operations and engineering workflows. This role centers on designing, building, and maintaining web-based applications that serve internal teams and help streamline critical business processes across the organization. The engineer will work in close collaboration with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to identify operational bottlenecks and deliver tooling solutions that meaningfully improve productivity and efficiency. In this senior capacity, the individual will take full ownership of complex features, drive important technical decisions, and provide guidance and mentorship to more junior members of the engineering team.

What you'll do
Design and build internal web applications that streamline workflows and improve productivity across multiple teams within the organization
Own the complete lifecycle of feature development, from initial requirements gathering and scoping through to deployment and monitoring
Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to understand tooling needs and translate those requirements into well-defined technical solutions
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that follows established patterns, conventions, and best practices across the codebase
Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive, actionable feedback to fellow team members to elevate overall code quality
Troubleshoot and debug production issues that affect internal applications, identifying root causes and implementing reliable fixes quickly
Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the long-term direction and evolution of the internal tooling platform
Mentor junior engineers through pair programming sessions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing to help them grow their technical abilities
Participate in on-call rotations to monitor and ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of internal systems and services
Continuously evaluate and improve development processes, automation, and tooling practices to make the team more effective over time
Requirements
Demonstrated experience building fullstack web applications in a professional engineering environment over multiple projects and iterations
A strong and thorough understanding of both frontend and backend development principles, patterns, and best practices
The ability to work independently and take full ownership of complex, ambiguous projects from start to finish
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
Prior experience mentoring and guiding less experienced engineers, helping them grow their technical capabilities and confidence
A consistent problem-solving mindset paired with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work
Comfort and experience working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and deadlines are demanding
A genuine commitment to writing high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code that meets established standards and guidelines
Nice to have
Prior familiarity with internal developer tooling, observability systems, and platform engineering concepts and practices
Experience working at or alongside companies operating in the fintech, payments, or financial technology sector
A solid understanding of accessibility best practices and their application to internal-facing web applications and tools
Previous background in building developer-facing dashboards, analytics platforms, and internal monitoring solutions for engineering teams
Skills & tools
Proficiency in modern web frameworks and libraries for building both frontend user interfaces and backend services
Hands-on experience with version control systems, code review processes, and collaborative team-based development workflows
Solid familiarity with cloud hosting platforms, container orchestration, and continuous integration and deployment pipelines
A working understanding of database design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and data modeling best practices
Knowledge of various testing frameworks, test automation strategies, and quality assurance practices for web-based applications
General comfort and experience with containerization technologies, infrastructure-as-code, and declarative configuration management approaches
Practical notes
This role is based in Lekki, Lagos and requires regular on-site presence at the company office location
The position is full-time with standard business hours and a regular weekly schedule of work days
The Internal Tools team collaborates closely with engineering, operations, and product stakeholders across the broader organization
