Bamboohr is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Merchant Experience team and contribute to the platform that powers how businesses accept and manage payments. This role focuses on building and maintaining the merchant-facing interfaces that allow businesses to view their transactions, manage their payment settings, and access insights about their financial activity. The engineer will take ownership of features that directly impact how merchants interact with the payment infrastructure on a daily basis. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver reliable, user-friendly solutions that serve a diverse range of business customers.

What you'll do

Design and implement new features for the merchant-facing dashboard and related user interfaces that merchants use every day. Own the full development lifecycle for assigned components from initial planning through code review, testing, and production deployment. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that follows the team's established patterns and contributes to a consistent codebase across the platform. Participate actively in code reviews to ensure quality standards are met and to share knowledge and best practices across the engineering group. Collaborate with backend engineers to define and refine API contracts that support the merchant experience features and integrations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that affect merchant users in production environments, working quickly to minimize impact on business operations. Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the direction and structure of the merchant experience platform over time. Mentor junior engineers through pairing sessions and provide constructive feedback on their code and development approach. Translate product requirements into technical specifications and actionable implementation plans that the engineering team can execute effectively. Monitor application performance metrics and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement in both frontend and backend systems.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience building fullstack applications with both frontend and backend components in a professional setting. Strong understanding of web development fundamentals including HTTP protocols, RESTful API design, and asynchronous programming patterns and concepts. Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex features across the entire application stack from database to user interface. Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional partners including product managers, designers, and other engineers on a regular and ongoing basis. Experience shipping production applications that serve real users in a live environment with high availability and reliability standards. Familiarity with version control workflows and collaborative development practices within a team setting that values code quality. Aptitude for learning new systems, frameworks, and technologies quickly and adapting to evolving product needs and shifting priorities. Good communication skills for articulating technical decisions, tradeoffs, and implementation approaches to diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Nice to have

Experience with payment or fintech platforms and their merchant-facing products and associated workflows in a production environment. Background in building dashboards, analytics interfaces, or data-rich applications for business users who need actionable insights from their information. Exposure to agile or iterative development methodologies in a collaborative team setting with regular delivery cycles and retrospectives. Interest in mentoring others and contributing to a positive engineering culture within the organization through knowledge sharing and guidance.

Skills & tools

Proficiency in modern JavaScript or TypeScript for building interactive and responsive web applications that run in browsers. Experience with frontend frameworks and libraries for constructing component-based user interfaces that are reusable and maintainable over time. Familiarity with server-side languages and frameworks for building APIs and backend services that handle business logic. Knowledge of relational or document databases for storing, querying, and managing application data efficiently and reliably. Understanding of cloud hosting platforms and deployment pipelines that enable continuous delivery and fast iteration on features. Comfort with testing frameworks and practices that ensure code reliability, correctness, and long-term maintainability of the codebase.

Practical notes

This role is based in Lekki, Lagos and requires regular on-site presence at the Bamboohr office during standard business hours. The position is full_time with a structured schedule, though some flexibility in daily hours may be available depending on team needs and project demands.
