About the role
Flutterwavego is seeking a dynamic and experienced Country Manager to lead our operations in Zambia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving the growth and expansion of our services in the region. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including local businesses, government entities, and our internal teams, to ensure that we meet our strategic objectives. What you'll do
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and market penetration in Zambia, aligning with Flutterwavego's overall vision and objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, business partners, and local communities, to enhance the company's presence and reputation in the region.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Flutterwavego in Zambia, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the company's policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead a diverse team, providing mentorship and guidance to enhance their skills and performance while fostering a positive work environment.
- Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and innovation, adapting strategies as necessary to stay ahead of the competition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and product development, to ensure that our offerings meet the needs of the local market.
- Monitor financial performance, including budgeting and forecasting, to ensure that the country operations are financially viable and sustainable.
- Represent Flutterwavego at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote our brand and establish valuable connections.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, working closely with legal and compliance teams to mitigate risks associated with business operations.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff to enhance their knowledge of the fintech landscape and improve customer service delivery.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on the performance of the Zambia operations, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Drive initiatives that promote corporate social responsibility, contributing to the community and enhancing Flutterwavego's image as a socially responsible organization.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably within the fintech or technology sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing teams and driving business growth in a challenging market environment.
- Strong understanding of the Zambian financial landscape and regulatory framework, with experience in navigating local business practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving results.
- Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.

- Experience in the payments or e-commerce industry, with a strong understanding of digital financial services.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
