What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities within the organization's operations and processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies that align with business objectives.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in the development of risk management policies and procedures that promote a culture of risk awareness across the organization.
- Analyze data and trends related to risk factors, providing insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on risk management activities for stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Participate in risk management training sessions to educate employees about risk awareness and best practices.
- Support the team in conducting internal audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact the organization's risk profile.
- Assist in the development of contingency plans and crisis management strategies to address potential risks effectively.
- Engage with external auditors and regulatory bodies during assessments and audits, providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote a collaborative approach to risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related discipline, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in risk management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance standards relevant to the financial industry in Africa.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications in risk management, such as Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) or similar credentials.
- Experience with data analytics tools and methodologies to enhance risk assessment processes.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and their implications for risk management in the financial sector.
