Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant serves a critical function within the FloQast Finance organization, owning a diverse portfolio of corporate accounting operations. Success in this position requires mastery of general ledger management, the execution of monthly close activities, specialized commission accounting, and the administration of internal-use software development cost accounting. This role operates within the fast-moving context of a high-growth SaaS organization, where precision and a commitment to data integrity are essential for maintaining the accuracy of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP. The position is structured to support strategic financial leadership while contributing directly to the reliability of the Company's reporting.
This position reports exclusively to the Accounting Manager and does not manage personnel. The Senior Accountant will engage in a collaborative partnership with the Accounting Manager and the Director of Revenue to navigate complex accounting challenges. The focus is on ensuring the accurate and timely execution of critical accounting processes, providing technical support and analysis to resolve difficult items. FloQast values a hybrid work model. The Senior Accountant is required to be physically present in the San Jose, California office for a minimum of three days per week, specifically Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This schedule is designed to foster in-person collaboration and integration with on-site teams.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is responsible for designing and maintaining robust intake procedures for transaction details, ensuring that all supporting documentation is verified and complete before any booking occurs. This involves a thorough review to confirm the accuracy and compliance of financial data at the point of entry.
You will build, adjust, and analyze journal entries to guarantee that general ledger balances are correct and accurately reflect the financial position across all cost centers and departments. This work demands a high level of technical accounting skill and attention to detail. A core duty involves the careful review of commission payout calculations, which includes validating data sources and formulas to ensure consistency and compliance with established policies.
The role requires a deep dive into internal-use software development accounting. You will shape and manage the methodologies used to track development hours and related expenses, ensuring that these costs are captured and allocated appropriately in accordance with US GAAP. Coordination with cross-functional teams is essential to align close activity schedules and maintain uniform documentation standards across the finance organization.
To support transparent financial reporting, you will prepare detailed schedules that clearly explain account balances and fluctuations. These schedules serve as vital tools for communicating complex financial information to internal stakeholders. Building strong partnerships with system owners is another key duty, aimed at improving data flows that feed accounting modules and enhance the overall quality of financial reports.
A fundamental responsibility is the active guardianship of the general ledger's integrity. This is achieved through a regimen of testing, sample checks, and periodic reconciliations designed to identify and correct discrepancies proactively.
Requirements
Candidates must possess three years of relevant experience in a comparable accounting position, demonstrating a proven track record of success in similar roles. A strong foundation in general ledger skills is mandatory, along with complete comfort in managing month-end procedures and a wide range of adjustments.
A thorough understanding of commission accounting and its direct interaction with revenue recognition principles is required. The ability to work in person at the San Jose office for the specified three days each week is a non-negotiable requirement of the role. also, candidates must have specific familiarity with the accounting treatment for internal-use software development and the associated tracking mechanisms.
Compensation
The base compensation for this position is $130,000.00, reflective of the role's scope and the candidate's 3 years of experience.
