Position Summary
The GL Accountant will serve as a key member of the EMEA finance team. The role reports directly to the EMEA Accounting Manager and is based in Budapest, Hungary. The finance organization in this region is rapidly expanding and provides support for accounting, payroll, and daily operations for over 1,800 employees spread across 22 European countries.
In this position, the individual will be central to all daily accounting activities. They will drive cross-functional projects and utilize their experience to enact innovation within the group. The role is critical to the monthly and quarterly financial close processes. It ensures strict compliance with accounting standards and actively contributes to the success of internal customers.
Key Responsibilities
The GL Accountant is responsible for managing general ledger operations for the European region. This involves handling complex journal entries and maintaining rigorous financial controls. Daily interaction with regional teams is necessary to ensure reporting remains accurate and timely. The position supports compliance efforts and empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions.
Specific duties include processing vendor invoices to establish clean initial records for all transactions. Designing journal entries is essential to capture complex transactions while adhering strictly to company policy. Coordination with tax specialists is required to ensure all filings align with local regulations and reporting deadlines.
Executing bank reconciliations is a core function, serving to verify transaction integrity and resolve outstanding discrepancies efficiently. The role involves generating financial reports that translate raw data into clear summaries for management review sessions. Implementing process improvements is expected to streamline workflows across the close cycle, enhancing overall reliability.
Supporting internal audit activities involves providing necessary documentation and insights to strengthen internal controls. Partnering with payroll owners is crucial to synchronize headcount changes and compensation calculations across different European regions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must hold a finance-related qualification and demonstrate a solid understanding of financial regulations. Experience managing month-end cycles within a multinational setting is essential for success in this position. Strong proficiency in spreadsheet applications is required to model scenarios and validate complex calculations.
An excellent command of both written and spoken English is necessary for clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits
The target compensation for this role is structured between 65,000 EUR and 80,000 EUR. This package is part of Veeva's commitment to rewarding talent within a high-growth environment.
