FloQast defines a new category in accounting technology. We are not merely developing features; we are constructing the foundational "Operating System for Accounting." This mission requires a Staff Software Engineer on the Transform team who serves as a primary architect. You will solve exceptionally difficult distributed systems challenges. Your success is measured by how effectively your work empowers the entire engineering organization to accelerate development. You are not just a coder; you are the defining technical strategist for FloQast Transform, our central platform where accountants design, test, deploy, and manage custom AI Agents. Your contributions will directly enable global brands to automate intricate workflows without writing a single line of code. This position operates in a hybrid capacity from our San Jose office.

The Role
You own the end-to-end lifecycle for FloQast Transform, guiding ambitious concepts from initial intake to global deployment. Your work establishes the architectural vision that shapes how distributed teams design, test, and release AI-driven accounting experiences. You set the standard for scalable and resilient systems that accelerate every engineer on the platform.
Your responsibilities include architecting the core platform capabilities that power FloQast Transform and the next generation of AI-driven workflows. You maintain a comprehensive view of the technical landscape, ensuring the distributed systems, AI Agent infrastructure, and visual workflow builders are robust, scalable, and elegant. You lead high-level design discussions that resolve complex trade-offs, establishing rigorous engineering best practices that raise both the floor and the ceiling for our technical standards across the automation ecosystem.
You act as a bridge between possibility and necessity, partnering deeply with Product and Design. You translate ambiguous business objectives into executable technical roadmaps for intuitive, agentic accounting automation. Your influence aligns engineering, product, and design to deliver coherent experiences across diverse accounting workflows. You coordinate the orchestration of services, data models, and integrations, ensuring distributed components operate reliably at scale. You implement observability and testing strategies, conducting reviews that surface issues before they impact critical workflows. You streamline release practices, ensuring deployments for Transform and related products proceed smoothly. You extend our reach to global brands, enabling them to automate intricate processes without writing code.
Requirements
You must bring over a decade of experience delivering complex software within enterprise environments. This veteran perspective is essential for navigating the lifecycle of a maturing platform. You possess mastery over modern backend stacks, specifically Go, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS. You think in terms of APIs, platform-first design, scalable workflow orchestration, and secure, compliant SaaS architectures. You approach outcomes with strong product intuition, building only when complexity justifies clear customer value. You navigate ambiguity with ease, converting rough sketches into production-ready systems through influence and technical clarity.
Compensation and Location
Location: USA
Engagement: Full-time
Compensation: $190,000 to $260,000 USD per year
