About the role
Fivetran is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their engineering team based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The role centers on designing and building data connectors that move information from source systems into data warehouses and analytical tools. The engineer will contribute to the platform that enables organizations to automate their data integration workflows at scale. What you'll do
Design and implement new data connectors that sync information from SaaS applications and databases into destination platforms.
Write clean, maintainable code in languages such as Python and Java to power Fivetran's connector framework.
Debug and resolve issues in data pipelines to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information to end users.
Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define connector specifications and prioritize development work.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to internal documentation that supports the engineering team's knowledge sharing.
Optimize existing connectors for performance, reliability, and scalability as data volumes grow across customer deployments.
Work within a distributed systems environment to handle authentication, rate limiting, and error handling for external APIs.
Contribute to the development of Fivetran's sync engine and related infrastructure components that manage data movement.
Mentor junior engineers through pair programming sessions and technical guidance on best practices for connector development.
Own the full lifecycle of connector features from initial design through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
Five or more years of professional experience building software systems, with a focus on data integration or similar domains.
Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, or Go.
Experience working with REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and JSON or XML data formats in production environments.
Familiarity with relational databases, SQL, and data modeling concepts used in warehouse and analytics contexts.
Demonstrated ability to write unit tests and integration tests that ensure code quality and reduce regressions.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with multiple priorities and shifting requirements across sprint cycles.
Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site meetings or customer engagement visits within the APAC region.
Nice to have
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and their respective data services and IAM models.
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes for deployment workflows.
Prior contributions to open-source projects or public repositories that demonstrate software engineering craftsmanship.
Exposure to event-driven architectures and message queue systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ in production settings.
