Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack
Job description
.
About the role
You will own the design and delivery of the Reverse ETL product capabilities that power data activation across the Fivetran platform. You will translate ambiguous product requirements into robust, scalable fullstack solutions that span frontend interfaces and backend data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineers to define architecture, prioritize deliverables, and shepherd features from conception through production. You will mentor junior engineers, influence technical standards, and ensure that shipped experiences meet high bars for reliability, performance, and usability. You will also contribute to on-call rotations to support production systems and respond to incidents in a timely, professional manner.
Key facts
What you'll do
Define and architect new features for the Reverse ETL product across the full stack, balancing user experience, scalability, and operational reliability.
Lead the implementation of critical product surfaces in the Fivetran dashboard, ensuring responsive, intuitive, and accessible interfaces for a diverse set of users.
Integrate authentication, authorization, and billing flows so that data activation capabilities align with enterprise-grade security and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with data platform teams to design and consume reliable data models that support activation use cases across diverse warehouse environments.
Partner with the product team to refine roadmaps, translate business objectives into technical deliverables, and execute against ambitious timelines.
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code that adheres to best practices, code reviews, and documentation standards across frontend and backend services.
Investigate and resolve production issues, applying debugging and monitoring tools to diagnose problems and implement robust fixes.
Work within a distributed, agile team to coordinate sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives, contributing to continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Mentor and guide engineers of varying experience levels, fostering a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and inclusive collaboration.
Participate in on-call rotations to support production services, ensuring timely response and mitigation of incidents affecting customer data workflows.
Engage with the broader Fivetran and dbt Labs communities to understand platform constraints, surface technical debt, and advocate for sustainable solutions.
Contribute to the long-term technical vision of the Reverse ETL product, evaluating tools, frameworks, and architectures that support future growth.
