About the role
FalconX is actively seeking a Compliance Officer to oversee and manage the regulatory compliance framework for our Swap Dealer and Security-Based Swap Dealer operations. This critical role involves developing comprehensive compliance strategies, conducting detailed risk assessments, and ensuring that all activities adhere strictly to applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct within the organization's swap dealing activities. Key facts
What you'll do
- Ensure the company's swap dealer and security-based swap dealer activities fully comply with relevant regulations, including the Dodd-Frank Act, CFTC and SEC rules, and NFA regulations.
- Develop, review, and continuously update compliance policies and procedures tailored specifically to swap dealing activities to ensure they reflect current legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments of swap dealing operations to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities, and develop effective mitigation strategies to address these risks.
- Design, implement, and oversee targeted compliance training programs for employees involved in swap transactions, ensuring they understand regulatory obligations and internal policies.
- Support ongoing compliance monitoring and auditing processes, including reviewing swap transactions and related documentation to verify adherence to policies and regulatory standards.
- Prepare detailed, accurate compliance reports for senior management and the board of directors, including summaries of compliance activities, risk assessments, and any incidents or violations.
- Lead investigations into any suspected compliance violations within swap dealer operations, working collaboratively with legal, risk management, and other relevant departments to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external regulators, and industry stakeholders to facilitate effective compliance initiatives and stay informed of regulatory developments.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and best practices in compliance management related to swap dealing activities, and implement these enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Keep abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards affecting swap dealer operations, and advise management on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
- Support the company's efforts in maintaining ITAR compliance and export controls, ensuring all activities adhere to applicable regulations, especially when dealing with international transactions or sensitive information.
- Assist in preparing for regulatory audits and examinations, providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from regulators.
- Collaborate with legal and operational teams to ensure that all swap dealing activities are conducted within the bounds of applicable laws and internal policies.
- Promote a culture of compliance across the organization through ongoing communication, training, and leadership by example.
- Participate in industry forums and compliance networks to stay updated on best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in the swap dealer space.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional certification (such as CAMS, CRCM, or similar) is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience working in compliance, legal, or related roles within a swap dealer, derivatives trading firm, or financial services organization.
- Deep understanding of swap dealer regulations, including the Dodd-Frank Act, CFTC and SEC rules, and NFA regulations, with practical experience applying these laws in a corporate setting.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing compliance programs.
- Strong knowledge of derivatives trading, swap transactions, and related financial products.
- Familiarity with compliance monitoring tools, audit procedures, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable policies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing detailed reports and delivering training sessions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and a proactive approach to compliance challenges.
- Experience working with ITAR regulations and export controls is a plus.

The expected base salary for this role ranges from $132,000 to $167,000 in the New York City area. This salary range is based on current market data and reflects factors such as experience, qualifications, and location.
