FalconX is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing team in New York City. This role focuses on building and maintaining the core systems that support the company's financial technology platform and digital asset services. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable infrastructure that meets the demands of high-frequency trading and transaction processing. You will take ownership of critical services and drive meaningful improvements across the entire technology stack. The position requires a strong systems thinker who can balance immediate operational needs with long-term architectural planning and team development.

What you'll do

1. Design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions that support high-throughput financial transactions and data processing workloads across multiple availability zones.

2. Monitor system performance and proactively identify bottlenecks before they impact production services or end user experience in any deployment environment.

3. Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and optimize deployment pipelines for faster, more reliable release cycles and reduced downtime.

4. Manage and maintain cloud-based environments, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities are always maintained and tested regularly.

5. Automate repetitive operational tasks through scripting and configuration management to reduce manual intervention, minimize human error, and improve consistency.

6. Conduct root cause analysis on production incidents and document findings thoroughly to prevent recurring issues across the platform and services.

7. Oversee the provisioning and lifecycle management of servers, databases, and networking resources in distributed and hybrid infrastructure environments.

8. Implement security best practices across all infrastructure components, including access controls, encryption at rest, and regulatory compliance requirements.

9. Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely incident response during off-hours and weekends to maintain system uptime and reliability.

10. Evaluate new technologies and tools that can improve infrastructure reliability, reduce operational costs, or boost overall developer productivity.

11. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing through detailed documentation, runbooks, and internal technical presentations.

12. Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure all infrastructure changes meet regulatory standards and pass both internal and external audit requirements.

13. Optimize database performance and storage architectures to handle growing data volumes while maintaining consistent query response times and availability.

14. Lead infrastructure planning sessions and translate business requirements into technical roadmaps that align with company goals and engineering priorities.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited four-year institution or university.

2. Five or more years of professional experience managing infrastructure in large-scale production environments with high availability and performance demands.

3. Strong proficiency in Linux system administration, including advanced shell scripting, service configuration, process management, and performance tuning.

4. Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure for building, deploying, and managing distributed systems at scale.

5. Demonstrated familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate resource provisioning, state management, and environment replication.

6. Practical experience with containerization technologies including Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes for service deployment and management.

7. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, reverse proxies, and firewall configuration and troubleshooting.

8. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues under pressure and communicate findings clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

9. Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows using Git in a team-based software development environment.

10. Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting systems, writing operational runbooks, and presenting technical recommendations to leadership.

3. Configuration management platforms such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to enforce consistent system states across large server fleets.

4. Version control systems, primarily Git, for managing infrastructure code, tracking changes, and collaborating effectively with development teams.

5. Message queue systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ for handling asynchronous data processing, event-driven architectures, and reliable messaging.

6. Monitoring and logging stacks including ELK, Prometheus, or similar tools for comprehensive system observability, alerting, and diagnostics.

7. Networking protocols and services including HTTP, TLS, SSH, and VPN for secure communication between distributed systems and services.

1. This role is based in the New York City office and requires regular in-person attendance during standard business hours each week.
