About the role
Equip is on the lookout for a Compliance Manager to lead its compliance initiatives. This position is crucial for ensuring that the organization adheres to intricate healthcare regulations while fostering a culture of risk management improvement. The Compliance Manager will work closely with various teams to navigate the complexities of compliance in the healthcare sector.

What you'll do
- Conduct thorough investigations into any breaches of policy and violations related to healthcare regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA and fraud-related issues.
- Assess and identify compliance risks by analyzing internal processes, new projects, and changes in regulatory frameworks.
- Design and implement monitoring programs to evaluate the success of risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide guidance to staff, management, and executives regarding complex regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with policy owners to create and revise operational policies that address identified organizational risks.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, payers, and legal advisors for accreditation processes and audits.
- Develop and facilitate compliance training sessions for teams that interact with patients, ensuring that complex regulatory topics are communicated in an understandable manner.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry trends to proactively adjust compliance strategies as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports on compliance activities and present findings to senior leadership.
- Foster a culture of compliance within the organization by promoting awareness and understanding of compliance requirements among all employees.
- Assist in the development of risk assessment tools and methodologies to enhance the organization's compliance framework.
- Coordinate with external auditors during compliance audits and ensure that all necessary documentation is readily available.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, preferably within a fast-paced startup environment.
- A minimum of 2 years spent on conducting, documenting, and resolving intricate compliance and privacy investigations.
- Proven track record in managing external audits, identifying root causes of compliance issues, and implementing corrective measures.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA/HITECH, state Medicaid laws, and OIG guidelines.
- Ability to think critically and juggle multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical guidance and build effective relationships across the organization.
