What you'll do

• Conduct surface preparation tasks, including abrasive blasting, to ensure optimal adhesion of coatings.
• Apply various types of paint and protective coatings to surfaces, ensuring even coverage and high-quality finishes.
• Operate and maintain blasting equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and compliant with safety standards.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas that require protection from paint overspray.
• Collaborate with project managers and other team members to understand project specifications and timelines.
• Monitor environmental conditions to determine the best times for painting and blasting operations.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, including materials used and time spent on each task.
• Assist in the setup and breakdown of work areas, ensuring that all tools and materials are organized and stored properly.
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in painting and blasting techniques.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the painting and blasting processes.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a painter and abrasive blaster, preferably in an industrial or construction setting.
• Familiarity with various painting techniques and types of coatings, including epoxy and polyurethane.
• Knowledge of abrasive blasting methods and equipment, including safety practices associated with their use.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.

Nice to have

• Certification in painting and decorating or a related field.
• Experience working with hazardous materials and knowledge of proper handling procedures.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations related to painting and blasting operations.
• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the painting and blasting industry.
• Additional certifications in safety training, such as Working at Heights or Confined Space Entry.

• Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques and the application of coatings.
