What you'll do
- Assist skilled tradespeople in various tasks, including painting, cleaning, and preparing surfaces for work.
- Operate hand tools and power tools under the supervision of experienced tradespeople, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Prepare and mix paints, stains, and other materials as required for specific projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by regularly disposing of waste and cleaning tools and equipment.
- Help in the setup and dismantling of work areas, ensuring that all materials and tools are readily available for use.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and contribute to team discussions regarding project progress and challenges.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in the transportation of materials and equipment to and from job sites, ensuring they are handled safely and efficiently.
- Support the team in completing tasks within deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the trade.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure clarity in tasks and responsibilities.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding tools, equipment, or safety to the supervisor promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role or in a construction-related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- A strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with others.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools is an advantage.
- A commitment to safety and the ability to follow safety protocols diligently.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy materials.
- A valid driver's license is preferred to facilitate transportation to various job sites.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and overtime as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Nice to have
- Experience in painting, carpentry, or other trade skills is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in the construction industry.
- First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Previous experience working in a casual or temporary role within a trade environment.
