What you'll do

• Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical and structural components in various projects to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Review engineering drawings and specifications to understand project requirements and identify potential issues before they arise.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop inspection plans and schedules that align with project timelines.
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports outlining compliance, deficiencies, and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Perform on-site assessments to evaluate the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring they meet industry standards.
• Utilize advanced inspection tools and techniques, including non-destructive testing methods, to assess structural integrity.
• Provide expert guidance and support to construction teams, helping them understand inspection requirements and best practices.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss inspection progress, challenges, and solutions, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve inspection processes and methodologies.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior inspectors and other team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Ensure that all inspection activities are documented accurately and stored in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance programs to enhance overall project quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical and structural inspection, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
• Certification as a Mechanical Inspector (e.g., ASNT Level II or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including ASTM, ASME, and AWS.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with inspection tools and software used in mechanical and structural assessments.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and certifications in NDT techniques.
• Knowledge of project management principles and experience in a project management role.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in the construction industry.
• Previous experience working with multidisciplinary teams on large-scale projects.
• Additional certifications related to quality assurance or inspection processes.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and ultrasonic testing equipment.
• Familiarity with software applications for inspection reporting and project management, such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
