What you'll do
Provide robust project accounting support for construction initiatives overseeing financial health from project inception to completion.
Monitor project budgets and forecasts identifying variances and collaborating with operations to implement corrective actions when necessary.
Process vendor invoices and purchase orders ensuring compliance with contractual terms and accurate allocation to the correct projects.
Reconcile project accounts payable and accounts receivable maintaining clear documentation for audit readiness and financial transparency.
Coordinate closely with field teams and operations managers to collect and verify timekeeping data labor burdens and material costs.
Prepare detailed cost reports and financial dashboards that communicate project performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
Perform monthly close activities specific to construction projects including accruals billings and contract adjustments with meticulous attention to detail.
Maintain project specific accounting records in accordance with established internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Analyze project profitability trends providing insights that support strategic pricing decisions and future project planning.
Support audit processes by supplying accurate timely and organized financial records and documentation upon request.
Implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and reliability of project accounting workflows across the organization.
Champion data integrity ensuring that all financial information is accurate consistent and readily accessible for management review.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure seamless project execution.
Requirements
You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance or a related field demonstrating a solid foundation in financial principles.
You must have prior experience in project accounting construction accounting or a closely related finance role within a similar operational environment.
You must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and possess advanced skills in manipulating financial data and building spreadsheets.
You must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP and construction specific accounting practices.
You must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling effective collaboration with both finance and operations teams.
You must be detail oriented with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues before they escalate.
You must be comfortable working within a regulated environment adhering to internal controls and compliance standards.
Nice to have
Experience with construction management software or project accounting platforms would be advantageous in this role.
Familiarity with the liquid storage industry and the specific financial challenges it faces may provide added context.
Practical notes
This role operates in a hybrid schedule with defined expectations for presence in the Wakefield Massachusetts office.
Travel is not required as part of the standard responsibilities for this position.
