Project Engineer

About the role

You will own the development and implementation of detailed construction schedules that align with project timelines and client expectations. You will be responsible for monitoring construction progress, identifying potential delays, and coordinating corrective actions to maintain momentum. You will manage and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure accurate execution of tank and supporting infrastructure projects. You will facilitate communication between design, construction, and client teams to ensure alignment and transparency across all project phases. You will perform regular site visits to verify work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project standards. You will prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, logs, and correspondence, to support decision-making and accountability. You will assist in the evaluation and integration of new technologies and industry innovations to enhance project delivery and long-term value. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project performance and sharing insights with the broader DN team.

What you'll do

Coordinate the development of comprehensive construction schedules that outline sequencing, milestones, and resource allocation for each project.

Monitor construction activities in real time, tracking progress against schedules and flagging variances for prompt resolution.

Interpret complex construction drawings, structural calculations, and technical specifications to guide field implementation and quality checks.

Lead coordination meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope and deliverables.

Conduct regular site inspections to assess workmanship, verify compliance with safety regulations, and ensure adherence to DN quality standards.

Prepare detailed project status reports, including narrative summaries, progress metrics, and issue logs for management and client review.

Evaluate and pilot emerging construction technologies and best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and long-term project value.

Support the development and maintenance of project-specific risk assessments, contingency plans, and mitigation strategies as conditions evolve.

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including correspondence, approvals, and as-built records, to support audits and future operations.

Collaborate with design and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges that arise during construction and ensure timely approvals.

Assist in the preparation of submittals, shop drawings, and verification logs required for regulatory compliance and client sign-off.

Promote a culture of safety and continuous learning within the project team by reinforcing best practices and lessons learned from each engagement.

Support the identification and implementation of process improvements based on project performance data and stakeholder feedback.

Act as a key liaison between on-site teams and corporate leadership to ensure transparent communication and alignment on project objectives.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

You must possess a minimum of five years of progressive experience in project engineering, with a demonstrated focus on heavy-civil construction.

You should have a proven track record of managing multiple project responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

You must be proficient in reading, interpreting, and applying construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

You must have hands-on experience with project management software and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

You must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.

You must be capable of frequent travel to project sites, including overnight stays, to support field operations and stakeholder meetings.

You must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance as required by project needs and DN corporate standards.

Nice to have

Experience with concrete tank construction, slipforming operations, or pre-stressed concrete facilities is preferred.

Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for liquid storage projects is advantageous.

Experience with risk management frameworks, safety audits, and quality assurance processes is highly regarded.

This role may involve travel to project sites, including overnight stays, to monitor construction activities and engage with stakeholders.
