Designer, Social & Brand | Talent Pool
Job description
About the role
This is a social content design role where you will own how Darkroom shows up visually on social media, defining the visual language across Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X through carousels, static posts, story templates, short-form video graphics, and campaign visuals. You will own the entire social content pipeline from initial planning and narrative framing through storyboarding, design, and iterative refinement based on feedback and performance insights. You should understand what stops a scroll, thinking in terms of format constraints, platform behavior, and visual rhythm rather than focusing solely on aesthetics. You will translate strategy and copy into design in partnership with the VP, Marketing, and cross-functional collaborators, taking full creative ownership to concept visual systems and develop content series that push the quality bar for everything that carries the Darkroom name. This is a high-output role with real creative ownership where you will build repeatable frameworks and templates instead of starting from scratch every time, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the pipeline. You will also work on presentations, identity extensions, and marketing collateral beyond social, applying your design expertise to maintain a cohesive brand across touchpoints. This is a fully remote role aligned with EST hours (9 AM-5 PM), and it is currently not an active hiring position but a talent pool opportunity for future needs.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the social content pipeline end-to-end, covering planning, narrative development, storyboarding, design, and iteration through approvals with a focus on Instagram as the priority platform while also designing for LinkedIn, TikTok, and X.
- Design carousels, static posts, story templates, short-form video graphics, and platform-native formats at a consistent weekly cadence, ensuring that each asset meets platform specifications and performance expectations.
- Build visual systems and content series by creating repeatable frameworks and templates that reduce redundant work and accelerate production across campaigns.
- Hit content velocity targets while maintaining high quality, recognizing that consistency is as important as excellence in each deliverable.
- Stay current on platform specifications and in-feed trends, proactively incorporating new formats, behaviors, and best practices into every asset you create.
- Track performance metrics for existing content and use insights to iterate and optimize future designs, reinforcing what works and adjusting what does not.
- Manage your own workstreams effectively by organizing tasks, setting priorities, and flagging blockers early to ensure timely delivery against deadlines.
- Design case study visuals that transform client results into compelling proof points, making complex outcomes easy to understand and persuasive for sales and social audiences.
- Create assets for internal and external presentations, including decks, pitch materials, and thought leadership visuals that reflect the quality and clarity of Darkroom's brand.
- Maintain Darkroom's Figma-based brand system by updating templates, asset libraries, and scalable components to support current and future initiatives.
- Support identity work as the brand evolves, contributing to event branding, merchandise concepts, and co-marketing materials that extend the visual language of Darkroom.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to turn strategic direction and copy into visual narratives that align with business goals and audience expectations.
Requirements
- You have 3+ years of experience in brand, marketing, or visual design, demonstrating a track record of applying design thinking to real-world challenges.
- Your portfolio leads with social work, including carousel systems, content series, and platform-native creative, rather than focusing primarily on logos and brand guides.
- You think in systems and understand how design performs on social, including principles like thumb-stops, pacing, format constraints, and platform behavior.
- You are fluent in Figma, using scalable components, organized files, and shared libraries to streamline collaboration and ensure design consistency.
- You have strong typography and layout instincts across formats, ensuring that a carousel slide and a presentation deck both feel elevated and coherent.
- You are a designer first who specializes in social content creation, not a social media manager who learned design tools as a secondary skill.
- You are organized, accountable, and able to communicate your design thinking clearly through critique and documentation.
- You are comfortable working fully remotely within EST hours (9 AM-5 PM), aligning your schedule and availability with team expectations.
