What you'll do
- Assist in the daily operations aboard the vessel, including maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and tidy environment.
- Learn to operate and maintain various deck equipment, such as winches, cranes, and safety gear, under the guidance of experienced crew members.
- Participate in safety drills and training sessions to familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and protocols.
- Help with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring that all items are secured and properly stowed for transport.
- Support the crew in navigation and watchkeeping duties, gaining an understanding of maritime navigation and communication systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vessel's equipment and report any issues to senior crew members for timely resolution.
- Assist in the preparation of the vessel for departure and arrival, including securing lines and checking safety equipment.
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness and readiness to respond to any emergencies that may arise during operations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and effective communication throughout the vessel.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; further education in maritime studies is a plus.

- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of maritime terminology and operations is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed based on operational requirements.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the work site are essential.
- Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) prior to starting the role.

- Previous experience in a maritime or related field, such as fishing or boating, is beneficial.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency response procedures in a maritime context.
