What you'll do

• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols across all operational sites.
• Collaborate with various departments to promote a proactive safety culture, providing guidance and support on HSSE matters.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and compliance documentation, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accessible.
• Facilitate safety training sessions for employees, ensuring they are well-informed about safety practices and emergency procedures.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, compiling reports that detail findings and recommendations for improvement.
• Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to management for continuous improvement.
• Assist in the preparation of safety-related reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Support the HSSE team in emergency response planning and drills, ensuring readiness for potential incidents.
• Stay informed about industry trends and changes in regulations, making recommendations for updates to company policies as necessary.
• Foster relationships with external regulatory bodies and industry organizations to stay current on best practices and compliance requirements.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to integrate HSSE considerations into project planning and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in HSSE administration or a similar role within the maritime or industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards.
• Proven experience in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and presentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships across various departments.

Nice to have

• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or equivalent.
• Experience with incident management software and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Previous experience in the maritime industry or related fields.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
