About the role
The Senior Creative Engineer owns the end-to-end delivery of high-impact production design across an extensive range of digital touchpoints, driving both strategic vision and meticulous execution. This role demands independent stewardship of complex, multi-channel projects where you will define quality benchmarks and solve unforeseen creative or technical constraints in real time. You act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders, translating brand guidelines into pixel-perfect, high-performance digital experiences. In addition to hands-on production, you will shape the evolution of design systems, codify reusable patterns, and embed best practices that scale across teams. You will mentor junior and mid-level Creative Engineers, elevating the entire group through thoughtful feedback, knowledge sharing, and process rigor. You are expected to anticipate design trends and emerging tooling, then champion innovative approaches that enhance efficiency and amplify creative impact. Finally, you will partner closely with creative engineering leads, project managers, and client teams to align solutions with business goals, ensuring every deliverable reinforces brand integrity and user value.

What you'll do
- Oversee the creation and delivery of production design assets for site and app maintenance, image processing, digital advertising, motion graphics, email production, and presentation design.
- Drive end-to-end ownership of complex projects, from initial planning and scoping through execution, review, and final delivery while maintaining strict alignment with creative, brand, and technical standards.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level Creative Engineers, providing actionable feedback, establishing best practices, and fostering a high-performance, collaborative design engineering culture.
- Collaborate strategically with creative engineering leads, project managers, and clients to design and refine workflows that improve efficiency, consistency, and the overall quality of deliverables.
- Ensure rigorous quality assurance across all production assets, proactively identifying potential design or technical issues and implementing solutions before they impact users or timelines.
- Contribute actively to the evolution, maintenance, and scalability of design systems, templates, and guidelines, ensuring they remain robust, coherent, and reusable across all touchpoints.
- Stay at the forefront of design trends, tools, and technologies, evaluating and recommending innovative approaches that enhance production efficiency, creative exploration, and measurable impact.
- Translate complex creative direction and brand requirements into technically sound, production-ready assets that balance aesthetic excellence with performance and accessibility.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business objectives and user needs, then craft design solutions that support key product and marketing outcomes.
- Maintain organized, efficient, and well-documented production workflows, ensuring that assets are version-controlled, easily retrievable, and ready for deployment across channels.
- Proactively manage project timelines and dependencies, communicating status clearly to stakeholders and adjusting plans to mitigate risk and meet critical deadlines.
- Leverage deep expertise in digital production tools and techniques to streamline repetitive tasks, automate where possible, and free capacity for high-value creative work.
- Act as a quality gatekeeper for visual and interactive consistency, enforcing brand rules and design system integrity across all deliverables.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve team processes, tooling, and standards, introducing practical enhancements that increase predictability and creative freedom.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Advertising, or a related field, or bring equivalent experience from advertising agencies, design studios, or startup environments.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in digital production design, with a proven track record in advertising agencies, design studios, or startup settings that serve international clients and global brands.
- Demonstrate advanced expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator, with strong capabilities in photo retouching, image optimization, and production-ready asset preparation.
- Show strong working knowledge of motion design tools such as After Effects and Adobe Animate, with prior experience using Celtra or Orca Plus noted as a significant advantage.
- Exhibit advanced proficiency in UI/UX design tools including Figma and Sketch, and the ability to translate design systems into scalable, production-ready assets.
- Possess a solid background in digital marketing, digital production, and online advertising best practices, with an understanding of how design decisions impact performance and user experience.
- Display proficiency in presentation and storytelling tools such as Keynote and PowerPoint, enabling clear communication of concepts, processes, and results to diverse audiences.
- Have familiarity with core web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and understand how design decisions translate into implementation.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to manage multiple complex projects independently while maintaining outstanding attention to detail and uncompromising quality standards.
- Show experience with remote collaboration and workflow management tools such as Slack, Jira, Asana, Trello, Basecamp, Zoom, and Google Drive, using them to maintain transparency and efficiency.
- Cultivate a leadership mindset that enables you to mentor peers, influence cross-functional teams, and introduce thoughtful improvements to workflows and standards.
- Highlight any certifications or formal courses in UX/UI, design thinking, visual design, marketing campaigns, or design systems as a strong asset that supports your application.
Practical notes
The position requires full on-site attendance, five days per week, at the Barreal office located in Heredia, Zona Franca Metropolitana. No remote or hybrid arrangements are available for this role.
