What you'll do
- Execute the validation of financial data inputs to guarantee accuracy and completeness before integration into reporting systems.
- Perform the full close of books activities, including detailed reconciliations and journal entries, adhering to daily, weekly, and monthly timelines.
- Lead general accounting operations while preparing comprehensive working papers to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews.
- Implement and monitor rigorous internal controls to ensure process integrity and strict compliance with governance standards.
- Maintain an advanced understanding of Costa Rican tax obligations, audit procedures, and fiscal laws, including specific regulations applicable to designated economic zones.
- Analyze historical and current cash flow patterns to forecast trends and deliver strategic recommendations that enhance the financial health of the organization.
- Coordinate closely with internal finance teams and external auditors to verify compliance and ensure the accuracy of all financial reports.
- Administer and manage accounting software platforms, ensuring the integrity of data and the reliability of all reporting outputs.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and drive enhancements to streamline accounting workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Partner with tax professionals and regulatory experts to ensure adherence to local laws and zone-specific legislative requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for accounting policies and procedures to support audit trails and operational continuity.
- Support the evaluation and adoption of new financial technologies that improve accuracy and efficiency in financial processing.
- Conduct variance analysis to compare budgeted versus actual performance, providing insights that guide corrective actions.
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure financial data aligns with operational and strategic objectives.
Requirements
- Bring a professional history of 3 to 5 years dedicated to accounting, auditing, treasury, or finance roles within a demanding environment.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of managing complex financial reporting, executing reconciliations, and ensuring timely closures.
- Command expert knowledge of accounting frameworks, tax codes, and legal compliance requirements specific to Costa Rican legislation.
- Exhibit high competence with financial software systems and advanced cash management tools to handle intricate financial scenarios.
- Show deep familiarity with taxation regulations, audit practices, and the legal framework governing special economic zones.
- Possess exceptional attention to detail, robust organizational abilities, and rigorous analytical reasoning to solve complex problems.

Practical notes
