About the role
The Engineering Manager at Coram Ai will own the full scope of our California engineering team based in Sunnyvale, driving the technical strategy and execution for critical components of our edge AI platform. This leader will be responsible for the cloud infrastructure that powers our real-time video analytics and the customer-facing engineering initiatives that deliver our product vision. They will set the technical direction while ensuring that clarity, craftsmanship, and impact remain at the forefront of every decision. The role involves direct ownership of architecture, code review, and debugging to maintain a high standard of quality as we scale. This is a hands-on technical management position where the manager stays deeply connected to the codebase and shipping practices. The successful hire will manage engineers starting this year and will be instrumental in scaling the team by two to three times over the next twelve months. They will collaborate daily with the CTO, CEO, and Product organization to align engineering efforts with business objectives.

What you'll do
- Architect and oversee the implementation of our edge AI platform to ensure it meets the demands of real-time video security and operational efficiency.
- Design and maintain robust cloud infrastructure that supports our multi-site visibility and seamless clip sharing capabilities across diverse customer environments.
- Lead the customer-facing engineering initiatives that translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive and reliable security solutions for end-users.
- Set and enforce high standards for code quality, system reliability, and performance across the entire engineering organization in California.
- Build and scale a world-class engineering culture by mentoring engineers and fostering an environment where clarity and impact drive innovation.
- Manage the career growth and professional development of the engineering team while maintaining a strong hiring track record to attract top talent.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and CEO to define the long-term technical vision and ensure alignment with the company's mission to transform the security industry.
- Work hands-on with debugging and architecture reviews to resolve complex issues in distributed or real-time systems and AI-driven workflows.
- Own critical parts of our AI-native platform, focusing on high-performance computing and robotics applications where applicable to enhance system capabilities.
- Ensure the team operates within an established top-tier engineering culture, understanding the dynamics of organizations ranging from fifty to one hundred-plus engineers.
Requirements
- Have reached a Staff or very senior Individual Contributor level and spent multiple years at that level before transitioning into a management role.
- Bring four to five years of total engineering experience, with a significant portion spent in hands-on technical contributions.
- Have current or prior experience managing engineers in a Tech Lead Manager or Engineering Manager capacity within a fast-paced technology environment.
- Demonstrate deep strength in at least one of the following domains: distributed or real-time systems, robotics and AI, or high-performance computing.
- Operate effectively inside an established top-tier engineering culture and understand how an organization of fifty to one hundred or more people operates and makes decisions.
- Maintain a strong hiring track record and set a high bar for what great work looks like in software engineering and system design.
- Stay genuinely hands-on and be motivated by ownership, impact, and actively shaping the product roadmap through technical leadership.
- Exhibit strong communication and clarity in both technical and cross-functional discussions to align engineering efforts with business goals.
