About the role
The Manager, Accounting plays a central role in ensuring that CIM Group maintains the highest standards of financial accuracy and compliance for its real estate and infrastructure investments. This position is responsible for delivering GAAP compliant financial reporting that reflects the performance of diverse asset and fund structures. The hire will own the end to end accounting cycle, providing reliable data that supports strategic decision making across the organization. They will act as a key partner to portfolio management, valuations, tax, treasury, and external auditors to safeguard data integrity. The Manager, Accounting will oversee complex consolidations, fair value measurements, and analytical reviews that highlight portfolio insights. This role is instrumental during new investment onboarding and throughout the transaction lifecycle. The position requires a proactive approach to liquidity management within complex investment frameworks. By maintaining rigorous standards, the hire will directly contribute to the enhanced impact CIM Group aims to have in the communities it serves.

What you'll do
Establish and maintain robust accounting policies and procedures specific to real estate and infrastructure investments to ensure consistent and compliant financial reporting.
Lead the execution of month end and quarter end close activities, driving timely and accurate consolidation results across multiple entities and funds.
Own the fair value measurement process, coordinating with valuation teams to ensure assumptions and methodologies are appropriate and well documented.
Perform detailed analytical reviews of portfolio performance, identifying trends, variances, and potential risks before they escalate.
Partner with portfolio managers to interpret investment performance metrics and provide clarity on accounting impacts for major transactions.
Coordinate with tax advisors to ensure compliance with jurisdictional tax regulations and to optimize tax positions within the boundaries of GAAP.
Collaborate with treasury to manage cash flow, monitor liquidity positions, and support funding requirements for current and future investments.
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, facilitating smooth audit execution and addressing inquiries related to financial statements.
Contribute to the assessment and integration of new investment opportunities, ensuring accounting frameworks are established from acquisition through disposition.
Oversee the preparation of investor reporting packages that clearly communicate the financial health and performance of the portfolio.
Implement and improve financial models that support scenario analysis, capital return decisions, and performance measurement.
Champion process enhancements that increase efficiency, reduce errors, and strengthen internal controls across the accounting function.
Requirements
Demonstrate a strong understanding of US generally accepted accounting principles with a focus on how they apply to real estate and infrastructure assets.
Possess proven experience in accounting for investment portfolios, consolidations, and fair value measurements within a complex financial environment.
Show a history of delivering accurate and timely monthly and quarterly financial reports in a regulated setting.
Exhibit strong analytical skills, with the ability to dissect complex transactions and explain the resulting accounting implications.
Have the capability to collaborate effectively with cross functional stakeholders, including investment professionals, tax advisors, and auditors.
Maintain strict attention to detail and a high level of integrity when managing sensitive financial data and disclosures.
Bring experience working in a team oriented environment where collaboration is essential to achieving shared objectives.
Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic professional setting.
Nice to have
Experience with real estate investment structures and related regulatory considerations is preferred.
Familiarity with portfolio management and valuation processes adds additional value to the role.
Practical notes
This is a full time position based in Los Angeles, California.
The successful candidate will be expected to work during standard business hours and participate in meetings across various time zones as needed.
Travel is not required for this role.
