About the role

CI&T is seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer to join a strategic transformation program focused on modernizing software development lifecycles through the integration of artificial intelligence. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and implementing infrastructure and workflows that embed AI capabilities into production environments. Your work will support a major client in the benefits sector, helping to streamline and enhance their software development processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, cloud computing, and AI tools, with a focus on ensuring compliance, security, and quality standards are maintained throughout the AI integration. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including AI orchestration and development teams, to deliver innovative solutions that generative AI and automation tools. What you'll do

• Configure and customize generative AI platforms to meet specific SDLC requirements, including designing prompts, defining personas, and setting contextual parameters to optimize AI performance across development stages.
• Build and maintain agentic workflows that are integrated with development pipelines such as Azure DevOps and Git, ensuring automation and orchestration of tasks within the software lifecycle.
• Embed AI agents into various phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial analysis and refinement to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance, to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Optimize the performance and strategies of AI agents tailored to each development stage, ensuring they deliver relevant, high-quality outputs aligned with project goals.
• Collaborate with the AI Orchestrator and infrastructure teams to execute the roadmap for AI deployment, ensuring infrastructure scalability and reliability.
• Automate development tasks and processes while maintaining strict adherence to compliance, security, and quality standards, utilizing tools such as SonarQube and Veracode to monitor code quality and security vulnerabilities.
• Manage technical risks associated with deploying AI agents in production environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure all AI solutions adhere to ethical guidelines and comply with regulatory standards, including data privacy and security policies.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new AI tools and techniques, and integrating them into existing workflows to enhance productivity and innovation.
• Document AI configurations, workflows, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and future scalability of AI solutions within the organization.
• Provide technical guidance and support to development teams, ensuring best practices are followed in AI integration and automation processes.
• Support the testing and validation of AI models and workflows to ensure they meet performance and compliance standards before deployment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in software development, with proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools, including Azure DevOps, GitFlow, and SonarQube, to automate and streamline development workflows.
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, especially AWS services like Lambda, SQS, and S3, with practical experience deploying AI solutions in cloud environments.
• Practical experience working with generative AI tools for development, such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, including configuring and evaluating their outputs.
• Ability to create, evaluate, and optimize prompts for AI models to ensure relevant and high-quality responses.
• Solid understanding of code quality practices, including automated testing, Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and Static Application Security Testing (SAST).
• Familiarity with integrating AI solutions into existing development pipelines and workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot AI and automation-related issues effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical solutions clearly.
• Knowledge of compliance and security standards relevant to AI deployment in enterprise environments.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and delivering results within deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic frameworks and methodologies such as AISDD or Spec-Kit to enhance AI workflow automation.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, particularly using Spring Boot or Quarkus, to support scalable AI solutions.
• Familiarity with flow observability and monitoring tools like Flow Ops or Databricks to ensure operational excellence of AI workflows.
• Prior involvement in large-scale projects involving multiple squads, demonstrating coordination and integration skills.
• Background working within the benefits or fintech industries, understanding their specific compliance and operational needs.
• Exposure to other cloud providers or multi-cloud strategies to broaden deployment options for AI solutions.
