[job-30811] Principal Architect, Brasil.
Job description
[job-30811] Principal Architect, Brasil. at CI&T.
About the role
You will own the end-to-end technical vision for transforming a critical legacy product into a modern, cloud-native platform delivered on AWS. You will define the target architecture, lead the migration from a monolithic structure to a modular, service-oriented ecosystem, and establish the technical foundations for scalability, multi-tenancy, and whitelabel capabilities. This role requires deep collaboration with global stakeholders to align technology strategy with business objectives while ensuring operational excellence and security. You will mentor a team of architects and engineers, driving best practices in software engineering and cloud operations. Your decisions will directly shape the future product roadmap and the company's ability to deliver scalable solutions to enterprise clients.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define the target architecture on AWS, orchestrating the decomposition of a legacy monolith into scalable microservices, event-driven workflows, and robust APIs while establishing domain boundaries and bounded contexts.
- Lead the modernization roadmap, selecting appropriate patterns such as strangler fig, extraction, and modularization to ensure coexistence and seamless migration from legacy systems.
- Establish and enforce enterprise architecture governance, creating standards, guidelines, and documentation including ADRs, diagrams, and architectural catalogs to maintain alignment.
- Design cloud solutions that maximize AWS services, ensuring high availability, resilience, performance, security, and cost-efficiency through FinOps practices.
- Champion engineering excellence by implementing CI/CD pipelines, observability, SRE principles, and resilience patterns like circuit breakers, timeouts, and retries.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architects and tech leads, structuring architectural roles, responsibilities, and processes to elevate the entire technical ecosystem.
- Partner with product, business, and technology leadership to translate strategic objectives into architectural decisions, defining non-functional requirements such as SLOs, security, and compliance.
- Identify architectural risks and devise mitigation strategies, ensuring the platform remains evolutive for new use cases, integrations, business models, and scalable growth.
- Own the documentation and communication of solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences, facilitating clear decision-making across the organization.
- Drive discovery sessions and requirements analysis, ensuring that architectural decisions are grounded in real business needs and technical constraints.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them when appropriate to maintain the platform's competitiveness and innovation.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure alignment between architecture, development, and operations teams.
- Monitor platform performance and reliability, driving continuous improvements based on metrics and feedback.
- Enable multi-tenant and whitelabel strategies to support diverse client needs and commercialization models.
- Ensure all implementations adhere to strict quality, security, and regulatory standards across the entire stack.
Requirements
- Possess solid experience in software engineering, working as a Solutions Architect or Systems Architect in complex environments involving multiple teams and systems.
- Demonstrate proven experience in modernizing legacy systems into distributed and modular architectures, including defining target architecture and migration roadmaps using decomposition patterns such as strangler pattern, split by domain or subdomain, and anti-corruption layer.
- Show practical mastery of cloud-based architectures using AWS solutions, applying high availability, resilience, scalability, and FinOps practices in real projects.
- Exhibit extensive experience in designing service-oriented and API-driven platforms, preferably with domain-driven design (DDD) approaches and capability exposure for products, partners, and whitelabel implementations.
- Have a strong background in architecture governance, including the definition of standards, principles, guidelines, and architectural review processes.
- Active participation in architecture forums and technical decision-making at enterprise level, influencing strategy and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, DevOps practices, and cloud operations supporting continuous delivery and reliability.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring professionals in architectural and engineering excellence.
- Commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, security threats, and evolving technology landscapes.
- Willingness to work closely with global teams across different time zones and cultural contexts.
- Adherence to CI/CD, observability, and SRE methodologies to ensure robust and reliable platform operations.
- Capability to analyze intricate business problems and translate them into sustainable technical strategies.
- Alignment with the company's mission to leverage AI and technology transformation to deliver real business impact.
